This sort of software is a very intricate web of programs talking to other copies of itself. You can install your own copy of the program, but a copy of the program is 100% required, even if it’s just you using it.
Sure, what’s the issue here? The article doesn’t say Apple is charging anyone for the appointment. This sounds like a premium experience for prospective customers with $3500 to blow that might not want to figure all of the initial setup stuff out themselves.
They’ll take these opportunities to figure out how to make the self-service as smooth as possible, and start selling without an appointment once that’s been smoothed out.
Every VR headset needs lenses, and if you have a prescription you get a set for your prescription. If you don’t have a prescription, you get a generic set.
They are magnetic, so sure they can be swapped out. Extra sets for other eyes will cost something.
I would guess that the Zeiss prescription lenses for the Vision Pro will be at least $300-600 a pair, unless Apple is eating part of the cost given the already high price of the headset itself.

This is all I’m aware of, and it’s a guess. Personally I think every pair will need lenses, and if you have a prescription you get a specific set. If you don’t have a prescription, you get a generic set.
Did you ever try blanching the skin before frying it? Here's an article for getting crispy skin on chicken cooked sous vide, which isn’t exactly the same, but I wonder if the technique could apply here.
To be fair, this often happened on Reddit as well. I was subscribed to 6 virtual reality subs, and at least that many 3d printing.
One issue I’ve found with this model is that content is being cross posted pretty heavily, meaning I’ll see the same post by the same person 5 times in the matter of a few minutes.
I’m trying to keep in mind that it’s still early, and communities are still finding their way. The ones that form an identity will have a larger base, and will become the de facto place that posts are made.
