  • “This is B.S.,” conservative radio host Larry Elder complained in a video he shared online. “It is designed, in my opinion, to ensure that [Florida Gov.] Ron DeSantis is the nominee — anybody other than Donald Trump.”

Jesus Christ, even when attempting to be nominated, he has to make it about Trump. Like even when he feels he's facing injustice, it's not just that they're screwing him over, but it's all part of their master plan to ensure Trump isn't somehow the nominee. Like what if you actually became runner up? Was your goal to capitulate to Trump automatically?

It really is hard to separate the Republican party from Trump at this point. For many, DeSantis' biggest sin is that he isn't Trump. Every action by active members seems to be to win Trump's favor. Even DeSantis has to oil his feet despite being his political rival. The fact that Trump won't be participating in the debates, yet will still likely be nominated shows how much he actually controls the Republican party.

  • I like that, lets get some educational memes!

  • and stfu

We're former redditors. We don't do that here.

  • Gimli: "Ah man, Moria is gonna be fucking lit! Balin always throws the wildest parties! And you know those gigantic furnaces we use for our fine craftmanship, you can smoke an entire Olliphant in them as well."

Gandalf: (I don't have the heart to tell him)

Salmon: How did you know pink was my favorite color!

    ppl: Uh, what?

Salmon: Yeah! All the prettiest flowers are pink! I also like the sense of calm the color instills, the feminine yet loud conveyance, the fact that it's the color of my birth stone...

ppl: oh, well, that's pretty cool

Salmon: And the fact that it reminds me of the blood of my enemies, and awakens my chaotic and violent nature upon seeing it!

  • Hey OP. Don't know what exactly your situation is like, but I hope things get better for you soon.

  • Have you ever fucked a guy, but shouted the system's name on accident?

  • "I sell the peaceful solution"
"I make the peaceful solution seem enticing!"

"Everything the light touches, is our kingdom!"

  • The purpose of many memes is to make your pov seem more relatable. Even OP's meme is an example of this. Then you have the comment section, which serves to reinforce relatability of the meme, and then the upvotes which are a digital "amem" or "yeah".

So in a way, memes on redditlike sites are more or less a propaganda machine with a feedback system built in. Want to push a political pov with little effort, and an automatic way of gauging popularity while showing users "See! I'm not the only one!" Post a meme with a political message tied to it.

Also, a lot of people seem to call anything they don't agree with "political" as well, so sometimes a harmless meme about being gay gets grouped with a meme about eating the rich.

The point is as long as people have different point of view, memes pages are always going to seem political. Combine that with the fact that lemmy.ml tends to be more leftist than reddit politically, it might come to a shock to a lot of libertarian mind refugees who are used to their humor being accepted, or leftists who are shocked by the kind of content they're seeing on their front page.

There are several different memes spaces on the fediverse. The only real solution I can give is to block the ones that don't meet your standards, and build up the ones that do. Considering the different natures of each instance, I'm surprised each one doesn't have its own active meme page.

  • The fact this is a bipartison bill should have everyone concerned, and figuring out who exactly is supporting this bill, and when is their relelection coming up.
