Well then you're in luck, you have a lot of options for removing ads before giving money to YouTube.

One of the main advantages of RSS is that it doesn't track you or require an account for it to work. As you said it's only a XML or JSON file wth the latest items posted on the website.

Look under Sponsorblock Options https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp

In your mpv.conf you can just add ytdl-raw-options sponsorblock remove all

I'm more than happy to support my favourite content creators by other means, be it simple donation or merch. I will never subject myself to stupid ads, no matter the reason.

Just replace CHANNEL_ID with the ID of the channel you want to get the RSS feed from (to my knowledge it's only limited to the last 15 items) : https://www.youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=CHANNEL_ID

Or using curl and sed : curl -s youtube_channel_url | sed -n 's/.title="RSS"\shref="[^"]./\1/p'

Good, fuck those greedy bastards. yt-dlp + mpv with sponsorblock FTW, bonus points for stopping using a YouTube account altogether and using RSS feeds for your subscriptions instead.

That's fair, my only issue is clearly determining what makes someone a member of the group. I guess for LGBT it's more clearly defined, but it becomes a lot harder to determine if you're from X ethnicity or if you belong to Y culture (or I guess the hard part is to make people accept you in their club..)

That makes a bit more sense if that's a culture thing, but how do you define someone who belong in that culture? Is a black person born from a very wealthy European family still allowed to say it, even though he might have nothing to do with the culture? It just seems weird to me how you clearly define this, I mean even clearly defining what a black person is, is pretty much impossible.

That's a perfectly valid concern, there's a lot of PIs out there that are dust collectors or paper weights unfortunately. You know what, If I can find an second-hand Optiplex or ThinkCentre for cheap maybe i'll use that instead!

Yeah clearly not the optimal choice here, but I think it's enough for my use-case. The form factor is also something I can appreciate, as I move around quite a bit. When I'll get a more permanent home, I'll definitively take something more appropriate

Yeah I was actually thinking of buying a ThinkCentre or an Optiplex, but I'll have to see. It's just a project that I have for the moment. It would be fun to tinker with the hardware of the Pi though, I've seen so many cool stuff you can do with it.

I already use Mullvad, but I doesn't allow portforwarding anymore, sadly. So my uploads speeds are pitiful. As much as I enjoy Mullvad's simplicity when it comes to accounts, I'll have to pass. The point of the seedbox is to make the files that I download widely available. I don't download a whole lot, and it's usually files with very few seeders. It's often stuff that you can't find on streaming sites.
