  • How good was it? It's nice to actually see a wholesome crowd watching a game instead of a load of beer fuelled stupid fat middle aged wankers.

  • Yeah one of the shitty food prep type brainless jobs I applied for recently for subway or pancakes or something like that wanted a 60 second intro "fun" video. fuck off.

  • Yes. This is why I volunteered. This shouldn't be a political issue at all. It's about the constitution not being left or right wing. Australians are often either racist or just don't give a shit so they buy Murdoch's bullshit. What Murdoch has to gain from the no vote is anyone's guess, but it's probably just cos he and his staff are all racist scum.

  • Throw in a bag of grated cheese?

  • So it's pretty to sign easy up to volunteer for the yes23 campaign. I did it this morning. I can't manage much more than handing out how to vote cards, but I'll probably do a couple more things in the mean time. I think this is a time to step up. Deciding you're going to vote yes and figuring everyone else around you is "Melbourne Basic Woke 101" is probably not enough. https://www.yes23.com.au/volunteer

The no campaign is based on complete bullshit. Pretty much the cookers and liberal cunts who grew up after their covid misinformation campaigns have learned their lessons very well. They know how to make people believe conspiracy theories and are under no obligation to tell the truth.

Our democracy is a bit of a joke, but it's no laughing matter what colonialism has done in Australia and all over the world. The yes side are doing an ok job, but Albo is a bit of a wet paper bag.

  • What a time to be alive.

  • For the longest time, which is a while, I've been reading this as wordle and wondering why it was maps. Like, when did wordle change? Finally took the time to not glance over it today. Either way, this is less brain work than wordle.

  • Maccas coffee I always found pretty weak and average.

  • Sorry to harsh your buzz there friend. If you need a change of scenery while you decompress the shitstorm of your old workplace, bar work would be fine. I was in the music business, as a performer for the last 17 years. So I worked in hospo by proxy. I never got my rsa by I dealt with a lot of drunk people and was still treated like a sex object by a lot of bar staff. Bartending is not without it's pitfalls but an easy job you can probably leave at work in the short term.

I took a cleaning job with a great small business. At some stage I'll do something else, maybe. This employer is the best I've ever had and actually cares about my quality of life and not just making super duper profit. If you're at the end of your rope, no matter what industry you're in, it's probably for the best you do something low pressure for a while. I was a nervous wreck after my last job. Drank way too much etc, kicked up too much fuss and got spat out after incredible loyalty and severe mistreatment. I as anxious as fuck. It takes time to work through that's for sure. But I quit drinking, am much healthier and have a less bleak outlook despite only scraping by really.

  • you're generalising . I don't have much national pride, but I have very little interest america either. I enjoy some of your old television shows and some indie music, but nothing I listen to anymore. eastern europe has much more interesting music and plenty of us love lots of aussie music. you're talking about our boomers. i agree a lot of mainstream aussies are fucking basic though. I'd be denied existence and access to life saving medical care in a lot of states now too so fuck that.

  • nice. i have friends in both parts. welcome to the melbourne daily thread sis. <3

  • well that was quite wonderful but fucken ell, talk about get wrenching

  • ummm, why would we wanna move there?

  • I'm definitely not saying it's a bad idea, just to be aware to follow your intuition when staying in a workplace. If something smells like shit, it probably is. There are a lot of places which are good also.

  • and none of the off field bullshit from the fans.

  • At least I can avoid it. Thanks. I am not a fan of steaming piles of dogshit.

  • Yeah, I've stopped bothering with watching sport but this is good.

  • Yeah look it can't hurt. I left the industry earlier this year. I worked mostly in nightclubs, and they regularly started people with no experience. None of it is super difficult but like anything there's a learning curve and people can become highly accomplished at making wonderful cocktails. Be aware of the fact that the industry is rife with sexual harassment, poor workplace safety, bad payers and awful employers. Hospo voice cleaned the industry up somewhat, but they're not around anymore and there's still a lot of really shit behaviour you're supposed to tolerate from behind the bar. Much of it comes from the other staff and the customers. Most of the guys I worked with over the years turned out to be complete fucking creeps, not all, but it's a toxic masc culture and security are usually much worse and get away with it, cos macho bullshit and not being directly employed by the bar in a lot of cases.
