  • This is bullying a little girl

  • My mom dated someone who exclusively listened to this shit. I still feel nauseous every time I hear someone sing with that voice.

  • It's not sharp. You'd need some kind of freak accident.

  • I've wondered if most of those atheists were brought up very religious. They seem to take a very religious attitude towards their atheism. It would kind of explain why they're so obnoxious, too. Kind of like lashing out at their upbringing.

  • And then how many pushy religious people actually follow the good moral lessons from their beliefs, anyway? Like American fundies are so judgmental. Even my quiet, meek Catholic grandmother is so judgmental.

  • I don't hate religion or religious people. I just don't believe. I do find religions really interesting, though, historically and culturally.

  • Perfectly identical? I doubt it. Eerily close though, totally. My brother and my dad look so much alike that I've mistaken photos of my dad as a kid for photos of ny brother, and my daughter looks like a tiny version of my father-in-law.

  • Cars are also the main reason I don't like my kids being outside unsupervised. Everyone drives a goddamn tank these days.

  • I feel like celebrating on March 1st when it's not a leap year makes the most sense. If someone was born on February 29, then their birthday is the day after February 28.

  • Having to make their own ammunition would absolutely be way too much effort for a lot of people.

  • But does it really sound better, or does it just sound different because it's not your first language? It might sound just as corny to someone who grew up speaking Japanese.

  • I don't live in a particularly devout part of the world, so religion doesn't really impact my life, and so being atheist isn't a major part of my identity. I can see how an atheist who grew up somewhere like the US bible belt would feel differently than I do. I've always been annoyed by the "I'm so smart and religious people are stupid" atheists, though.

  • If we can get aggressive people to point that energy at each other in a controlled environment, I see that as a victory. Keeps them off of the rest of us.

  • I also just hate glass. I broke a jar the other day and thought I'd cleaned it up properly, but no. I've been picking nearly invisible pieces of glass out of my foot with tweezers for days. My feet are scratched to shit. Plastic is bad but glass sucks too.

  • Two kids. I live in Canada and have a disability so I don't have to pay for school, which I know is a big advantage. I paid for my first diploma myself, though, without any loans or grants. I worked through high school and of course after and saved the money. I also got married (and had no wedding) and we used the gift money to pay for school. Had our first kid while living with my grandmother and paying her mortgage for her. I was 30 when I finally moved out into my own place. Before that we lived with my grandmother, before that my inlaws, and before that with my dad.

I took the long road but I have a house now and that mortgage is my only debt.

  • I dropped out of high school at 17 and went to college (which I think is the same as a community college in the US? Not a full four-year degree) when I was 24 for programming. Worked as a programmer for a couple years and then got bored and went into agriculture for a couple years. Now I'm bored again and looking at going back to school for something else. I'm 33 and I'm doing fine. 21 is so young! You have lots of time to figure yourself out. Honestly I think asking 18-year-olds to decide what they want to do forever is ridiculous. Almost nobody knows themselves that well that young. I'm still figuring out what I want in life.

  • Holy shit I've never heard of that. Amazing. I'm not too young, either. How did I miss this

  • Hey I still have that yellow and blue table
