Tolerance is a social contract. OP broke that contract by writing a ridiculously calous, mean spirited comment, and is no longer entitled to tolerance.
Tolerance the way you're describing is how Nazi's gain a platform. We don't have to be tolerant of intolerant people. Just think about all the ways that could break society.

Basically, PR was always about controlling people and never about advertising. Bernays, the father of PR, even says his intentions were to rehabilitate the concept of propaganda, because the general public had begun to see it as a dirty word following WWI.
We could probably save a lot of the coming hardship if we just arrested people in/around government who have abused or sexually assaulted women/children.
The sad thing is the main factor in a successful propaganda campaign seems to be volume. So those that have an ability to broadcast a message to the highest number of people with the most consistency usually get their way.
How to Blow Up a Pipeline is a great book exploring this concept. Why is destruction of private property even considered violence, and why is private property more protected than vulnerable populations? Why does the average person, not owning private property, even consider this dynamic?
As much as I don't want to be a pessimist, I think we're past the point of solutions that come from within the system. It looks like they just took over, but the reality is the wealthy class of this country has been planning and working towards this moment since the 1930's.
