He's been alright. I'm a strident leftist. The cynical part of me says his second term will be significantly less alright once he's not working for re-election. But he won't be worse than Trump.
Obama was generally pretty terrible. Obamacare was a disaster and about the only good policies he had were around car emissions, which were significant but still. If you factor in the amount of political capital he had in 2009 it's sad really.
Why would you intentionally look at this complex situation in 1 dimension. That dimension being the most overplayed talked about dimension because it creates conflict between groups based on identities. Instead of looking at the actual problem that the dimension completely ignores.
Perpetuates the false dichotomy of a linear political spectrum of either liberal or conservative and that in and of itself is one of the reasons for these trends. Liberalism has nothing to offer men. Leftism does.
You might as well be asking men how much they are willing to sacrifice for others vs. look after their own interests. When the inequality gap widens and the majority live below average economically, don't you think people will tend to become more selfish? That's all these charts show.
Conservatism is essentially synonymous with patriarchy and on a very shallow level, it's easy to see how men would choose that over the status quo. That will surely be better for men than this slow attrition of status that comes with ever increasing wealth concentration. This isn't true but it is an obvious conclusion.
The real question, which this survey completely ignores, conveniently, is what we should all be doing together to better the status quo for all. Because I believe almost everyone except a small and shrinking fraction agrees that current trends are not working for anyone.
Trump will never have the political capital to do anything with Alaska. It's just not on the table, even for him, regardless of the lemmings he has following him. He will have political capital to withdraw from Ukraine and cede that to Russia however and that's all Putin could ask for.
Putin is just trying to create a distraction as always.
They are being financed by China and India. Their long time prospects are pretty terrible because they will rack up massive debts to those countries. But I suspect they will be able to continue the war longer than Ukraine can stay politically favored in the West. If Trump is elected, it's over for Ukraine.
The wealthy are savvy but with the boomers gone they lose a lot of their support. Of course they will try to maintain the status quo, but the people will be affected by the material conditions and see the truth. The only thing we have to fear is hate, but MTG, Boebart and Desantis were all elected by Boomers. Young people don't vote for those idiots. I'm more concerned about Andrew Tate.
It will solve the problem of their voting habits. They have lead us down this insane path because they are a narcissistic generation. Things won't be perfect, but we might, just might, start turning things around. If we still can.
The rich are very concerned about the fact that all statistical evidence pointing to younger generations being starkly more socially minded than boomers. Don't forget that Millennials have lived through a major economic crisis. Just like the Great Depression, that generally makes people realize that Capitalism is bullshit.
The wealthy are funding massive propaganda campaigns as a result. They are unfortunately making some in roads with young men. But overall I don't think it will be enough.
