Total eclipses aren’t rare, but them being in an accessible location and not just over some random place in the ocean is. I looked this up the other day, and any one particular location on Earth will see a total eclipse once every 350 years or so.
Glancing at the eclipse while it’s in totality is not going to give you permanent damage. Now if you stare at it until totality is over and the sun is on full blast again…
That article is both severely out of date and uses raw numbers instead of per capita. No fucking shit the US is going to have more people in prison when they have 30x the population.
Some brief searching of my own tells me that, while the unemployment numbers are roughly correct, the actual pay for those jobs are so low that they have a rough time actually being able to afford anything. Like, minimum wage is 2100 Cuban Pesos per month, but one set of clothing costs about 9700 on average.
At the end of the day, a human still has to approve what it’s posting. Not to mention that said humans can also direct it down a particular path. And in this case they are intentionally directing it to post about stupid conspiracy theories to rile up the right wing conspiracy nutters.
Fission gets a bad rap. The amount of waste it produces is minuscule compared to the amount of waste generated by fossil fuels, and it’s generally easier to deal with too. Just needs actual proper maintenance and care.
But there are plenty of things that don’t involve governance. Like I’m not gonna look at a video of someone playing with a puppy and go “Hm yep there is a human so this is political.”
