  • Hey you non-hardliner republicans, here's an idea: expel members violating their oaths by trying to destroy the nation rather than just trying to get rich like the rest of you. Betcha the Dems will happily help get rid of Gaetz, Boebert, Greene, along with the rest.

  • Social media is a turbocharger to the misinformation engine that is corporate media (especially Fox 'News' and shit like Limbaugh, Beck, Infowars, Rogan, et al) post-Fairness Doctrine.

The idea that the FCC shouldn't A) reinstate the doctrine, and B) have its regulatory boundaries extend to ubiquitous cable and streaming services is fucking nutballs. Thanks, Reagan!

  • Ok, ok, now look...

There are/were a fuckload of people that hate[ed] Hillary as a candidate for president.

I was one. (I wanted Bernie, fwiw.)

I knew Trump was a dipshit dumpster-fire that would never rise to the station of the office, but holy shit, I never expected Hillary to lose to him, and voted Jack Johnson because it reminded me of the Futurama episode.

Apparently, I wasn't alone, given the shitload of people who protest voted, wrote-in Darth Vader, or fucked up and voted Green Party.

Either way, we fucked up. Bad.

Also, I believe there is a large swath of previously-ignorant voters that just thought Drumpfsterfire would manage to act like an adult once behind the Resolute Desk. My mother was one. I didn't believe that, but I hoped, and I sang along with the South Park kids with "Put It [Twitter/Phone] Down."

At least my mother didn't require much reprogramming .

They were wrong. I was wrong. My poor, impressionable, boomer mother was wrong, and she laments it daily.

  • When all instructions tell you that this is, IN NO WAY, autonomous driving allowing you to take your hands off the wheel OR stop paying attention to the road? You bet your fucking ass there is a mountain of case law throwing out thousands of lawsuits.

There is literally not one bit of false fucking advertising involved in this entire story, and the more you attempt to argue there is, the more you show your ignorance.

  • "Full Self-Driving" for which you have to pay 15k, are told in ZERO uncertain terms that this is BETA software, and that you must maintain a hold on the steering wheel from the screen and speakers else it comes to a stop, and LITERALLY TRACKS YOUR EYES TO VERIFY YOU'RE LOOKING AT THE ROAD.

So again, morons that don't have any idea how a Tesla works, let alone has ever been in one, making shit up. NOT TESLA.

  • People that have never been in a tesla, maybe, because they're morons. That does NOT equal TESLA advertising falsely, nor does anyone driving a Tesla have any reason to believe the car will completely drive itself on autopilot, because it literally tells you it doesn't. Source: I own two of them. The entire argument is bullshit and predicated on people unaffiliated with Tesla being morons.

  • Yes Apple forces everyone through webkit and won't allow third-party blockers. Brave on iOS was forked from Firefox anyway, and iirc uses the same API to block ads as Firefox Focus. Google is most definitely not involved, particularly because both block YouTube ads (and is my primary reason for using Brave anyway).

I'm not sure what you're referencing in regard to VPN usage; I have had zero problems with mine.

  • I appreciate that but my response was more intended to chastise the guy blanket labeling people cultists and idiots for no good reason because they hate a browser someone else uses.

The system-wide AdGuard app handles most things well enough, and Brave does its thing on YouTube ads without issue.

Firefox Focus will also take care of YouTube ads (if anyone else stumbles down this rabbit hole), but it's too heavy-handed for me because I actually stay logged into my account and use my history.

My Pi-hole install also handles all but YouTube if I'm at home, so there's that.
