  • To save anyone time, Scott opposes any abortion, women's rights, LGBTQ+ anything of the sort, any gun control, and voted against the violence against women act.

He does support aid to Ukraine, so there is one, and only one, tic in the "Pros" column.

  • Oh it's absolutely a racket and a wasteful industry relying on sentimentality, religion, and mourning families.

I'd be all for throwing our corpses into grinders and (after some sanitation, no doubt) feeding crops or something, assuming any transplantable organs and any scientific work were done with them. But I'm certainly in a tiny minority.

  • In-universe is an attack pattern of jumping to maximum warp (possibly to dodge weapons fire as well) to point blank range of an enemy vessel, and unloading all available weapons before they can react. Picard described it as a desperation measure he used while in command of the Stargazer in combat with a Ferengi ship.

In pop-culture, it's standing and pulling a shirt down to present a clean front. The two-piece TNG uniforms had elastic bands at the waist and would ride up while sitting, so Picard would stand from his chair and straighten his uniform every time.

  • It's very clear the GOP thinks he's more of a problem for them than Democrats because as soon as he declared he's going to run as an independent, they began attacking him profusely, calling him radical left, electric cars for everyone, yadda yadda.

  • Fun fact! Caskets in the US are sealed inside vaults, either concrete or metal, because they aren't strong enough to hold up to dirt anyway. Also most caskets are metal these days. They'll last long enough to be exhumed and moved elsewhere for land reclamation in a few centuries.

(A family friend runs a company that makes/sells the vaults)

No idea about modern Vulcan burials, though. They might be better off doing the Dune thing for the water.

  • You'd have to nationalize the US communications grid including private satellites

No you don't. Legislation to extend regulations to content doesn't require ownership of the equipment. The FCC doesn't own radio towers. It will absolutely require a constitutional amendment to clarify first amendment boundaries and protections, but we're already talking about pie in the sky as is.

Edit: On the aside, I'd rather deal with the "privacy war" than the wild west insanity that is fox news, OAN, et al.

  • While you may enjoy immunity under the United States Constitution’s Speech or Debate Clause, that does not make your behavior any less offensive to the rule of law.

In other words, "the ONLY reason I haven't indicted your ass for obstruction is that you'll spend months on appeals all the way to SCOTUS trying to claim your obstruction is part of your duties in Congress, and you aren't worth my time right now, bitch."

I'd actually like to see her bring the charge and let judges bend themselves into pretzels trying to rationalize how a Congress member's incessant interference with a state case qualifies under the speech and debate clause's protection.
