  • I disagree and think you are getting too caught up in semantics in this case. Can I put cats and mice in separate rooms, with the intention that the cats can find a way into the other room, and claim I am only doing an experiment on the cats, even once they get through and start killing the mice?

What if I had a woman take some kind of drug during the first 3 weeks of pregnancy, with the explicit purpose of seeing what it does to the baby when it's born. Can I say, no, no, I was experimenting on a woman and a zygote/blastocyst, not a baby!

You don't get to just remove yourself from the result. If he did something that made the baby be born in a way that's different to how it would have been born, in my mind that is a direct experiment on the baby, just via indirect means.

You can say the title isn't specific enough for your liking, but by my standards it isn't wrong or misinformation. He conducted an experiment that directly affected the lives of babies. That IS an experiment on the baby, regardless of the method used to perform the experiment.

  • IF there was some reason, first of all, God could give us the ability to understand if he wanted to, as he is not supposed to be limited. Second, it would imply someone is getting something from it, God, us, or otherwise, that for some reason, God can't give in a way that doesn't involve evil. But again, if he is never limited, that shouldn't be the case.

Also, if cancer and other diseases are supposed to exist and kill people for some kind of purpose we don't understand, why do we have the ability to treat, vaccinate and cure those same diseases? If medicine gets to the point of preventing every ailment, then why does that "oh so important" reason for it existing not matter anymore? It would seem if these things NEED to exist, we shouldn't be able to prevent them from happening under any circumstances.

  • Except the evil doers are the ones specifically making sure people are uneducated.

I'm also curious what you would say is the cause? You argued against the point but didn't make any new ones.

  • What's your use case? I haven't used it to give/receive money ever since payid became a thing, instant and secure.

For more secure payments than giving out your card details you have options like Revolut that can create temporary digital cards, and bank of Melbourne has a digital card with a cvv that changes automatically every 24 hours, but still let's you set up subscriptions/recurring payments that don't break like Revoluts temp card would.

  • Thanks, I've actually been looking and that was probably my top contender so far, so it's nice to see it suggested. Twice as expensive as real Debrid is a tough sell though if I'm honest, and that's assuming I get the year upfront.

    Decisions, decisions...

  • Enjoy it man. Truly. Mine are 10 and 13. 5 years until she's an adult. I remember when she started school at 5. I know it's cliché but time does go by. Make as much of it "all fun" as you can. Within reason of course haha.

  • That's true. I think the best thing anyone can do for themselves is mitigate as much of that as you can. Obviously you can be dealt a shit hand and get a physical or mental impairment as you get older that's out of your control. But if you can stay as mentally and physically healthy as possible you can definitely raise your chances of being one of those 70 year old tanks you see destroying the rock climbing walls and stuff.

And unless you get severe parkinsons or something I still think there are many fulfilling things you can do at home.

But at the end of the day it's about working with what you have. I understand it can be a huge adjustment when someone that has done the same thing for 40 years is forced into retirement and their world is turned upside down. I know it's not all simple. But I've seen a streamer that can only move their head playing COD with a mouth controller. I think just about everyone can find something if they try.
