  • Well, that's one way to reduce, to quote Sir Starmer, "the benefits bill blighting our society".

  • I can think of two, for different reasons

    1. Planetside, it was an MMOFPS made in 2003. It's hard to describe but having sieges where you actually had to take time to get to the battle, organise people to drive transports, etc; or on the other side end up stuck guarding a door from constant attack for half an hour, was really immersive. (Like everything sony makes, the sequel was terrible)
    2. The original steel battalion, a mech sim for the original xbox with a massive dual joystick controller, that would delete your save game if you didn't hit the eject button before blowing up.

    This is the controller:

  • For the purposes of subparagraph (1)(a)(i), online social interaction includes online interaction that enables end-users to share material for social purposes.

    Well that clears things up...

Now they just need to define "social purposes".

  • I've not worked in a cooler, but I know for cold weather military surplus "mickey mouse" boots used to be cheap and warm.

  • I was hoping someone had made a federated extremely specific e-commerce platform.

  • People with depression and other mental illnesses who aren't capable of making that decision will use it. It also makes it a lot easier to argue for cutting mental healthcare and other suicide prevention measures.

Honestly as someone who's struggled with depression for 20 years, and had a couple of attempts, the idea that the government may just decide there's no problem with me yeeting myself is terrifying.

  • It's impossible to know, he's a bit of a wildcard.

The one redeeming thing about right populists is that they generally want to be popular, so it's perhaps less likely for him to do it than a more "conventional" republican.

  • Facebook ads are possibly the only ones I don't find overly annoying, but then I can just scroll past them quickly if they're uninteresting.

  • Okay, but now I really want to read the rest of the paper to see what R'lyehian incantations it contains.

  • This doesn't seem to cover books banned in the USA, or that have been completely removed from amazon.com for other reasons.

  • I suspect I have SDAM (severely deficient autobiographical memory) syndrome, it could be you do too?

  • It's less fatal, but it's worth checking carbon dioxide levels too.

  • I've met a few human middle managers who regularly hallucinated, when humans do it we call it "lying" though.

  • Last I heard he's just starting to admit he needs psychiatric help.

  • I don't think the plurality of software is a problem, as long as they inter-operate correctly, but otherwise I agree.

One of the reasons bluesky took off better than mastodon is the lack of friction in signing up.
