  • I think they already do

  • What does Widevine actually do? You may not be able to download directly but you can just use OBS

  • My opinion on TikTok: always put the first cross in the middle

  • Standard Ubuntu is slightly slower than standard Mint, but apps not in the App Store (like DaVinci resolve) are mostly designed for Ubuntu so they work best on Ubuntu, but for apps like Kdenlive it doesn’t matter

  • Kdenlive has the option to use proxy clips. Makes it way faster. You could also try a other video editor like Shotcut. The DaVinci resolve Deb works best on Ubuntu in my experience. As for a distro Linux mint is a good choice, you could try the XFCE version as it’s more lightweight. If you choose Kdenlive, maybe try the package if you’re using the flatpak or the opposite, as sometimes one of the versions works better

  • Definitively going to be useful. I’m just wondering if this will work with extensions like Adblock or Dark Reader?

  • Nice try FBI

  • If you purchase it and they can still take it away from you at will, it isn’t something that can be owned. If it isn’t something that can be owned, piracy isn’t stealing because for it to be stealing somebody would have to own it.

  • That heavily depends. Brave may have better advice/tracker blocking by default, but they send more telemetry. Them being an advertising company also doesn’t speak for them. Brave is a decent browser and on IOS/IPadOS a good option for open source + Adblock, but max privacy would be reconfigured Firefox or Librewolf.

  • They didn’t. Only mac and mobile

  • I think it’s probably because they’re from Mastodon, hashtags are more used there

  • While it doesn’t use the activity pub it still functions similarly so maybe that’s why it’s listed with the others

  • Privacy, Customization, better for Adblock. Or just to have a alternative if you’re main browser fails

  • Also Handheld emulation consoles

  • Threads isn’t fully federated, meaning currently there aren’t a lot of Thread posts on the Fediverse. Also, since Lemmy isn’t like Threads (compared to mastodon), you won’t really see any posts. Overall Threads is mostly a Mastodon problem (though lemmy is also effected) and you probably won’t experience a big difference
