  • My uplay launcher closes when i tell it to and I don't remember changing that setting, which makes it close easier than common programs like steam, epic and discord. I remember gog also not truly closing but I may have done that intentionally.

The triple admin request on update is fucking stupid though, and idk how a company as big as ubisoft can have that be the experience.

  • I also got YouTube premium, felt a bit rude to spend tens of thousands of hours without paying a cent.

My main issue is demonitising the videos also stops premium revenue, which is a bit dumb. Like sure I get removing ad revenues, but if I'm a paying customer and want a share of my cost to go to whoever I'm watching, it should just do that.

  • Skill up has a weekly show about what's coming up, what's come out, and a bunch of indie games. He's on break for a month at the moment, but it's good content and has got me to buy a few good games.

Game linked is another channel from Linus Tech Tips that is focused on gaming and I have faith they do their research properly.

    Gameranx is also quite good.

All of these are YouTube channels.

  • It's probably easier to replace Amazon than YouTube. Free streaming services don't make money, YouTube loses money, Twitch loses money, Kick loses money, the Microsoft one before it died was losing money. If it's free to watch it loses money, and these are companies that do a ton of work to try and make it not lose money, and it just doesn't work.

  • Browser downloads still have this issue, at least partially. If it fails itself it's fucked, but if you pause it manually it's fine.

Only really applicable in large (200MB+) files and bad internet, but definitely a thing that can still happen and make you start the download from scratch

  • If you have serious security needs, yeah paying for a proper one makes sense, I'm not denying that. Just for the 99% of people who don't need beefy security, defender is better than everything else free, and you were already giving your data to microsoft anyway so you might as well get some benefit from it. Defender is actually quite effective, and it has been since W10 at least.

  • Having used my gaming laptop on my lap, honestly it doesn't really block the vents. Like 50% of the bottom is vent, so either I have my legs together and there are gaps at the side, or I have my legs apart and there is a gap in the middle.

But also yes, it's about packing it up and setting it up significantly easier and faster, as opposed to actually doing things on the go. If I let my laptop use full performance on its battery, I would expect sub-30 minute battery life, as opposed to the ~2 hours I get when the GPU is turned off.
