  • Truly magical critters. Used to be at Gran's farm as a kid and catch em in your hands. Fields were just covered in em. Great memories.

Haven't been back in ages... I wonder how it's looking these days.

  • Truly. It's a bit bittersweet of news. To get the obvious out of the way, I fully support reclaiming housing for locals. They've had a tough go. Having housing gobbled up for private business is problematic everywhere, but especially on these lil island nations where tourism is huge. Gotta respect the locals!

Bittersweet, I was also in Maui earlier this year, at an Airbnb. It was a vibe. I always enjoy being able to live a bit more like a local when I travel. Usually nicer habitat than a hotel room. Having a kitchen while vacationing is so nice! Very easy to only eat restaurant food the entire time otherwise. Hotels and resorts bring a certain sort, and it's nice being able to avoid that crowd sometimes too.

Hawaii is especially precarious because a huge part of their economy is tourism. On multiple occasions we were told "thank you for being here." At the time, tourism was back up to about a 1/3rd its usual. Hit a boat tour that accommodates 45, with 15 of us on there. People in the industry need more butts in seats.

Ultimately, if I need to hit a hotel next time to ensure locals are able to live easier, so be it. Easy choice. I will miss the perks of catching a flat or condo tho.

  • Likely sound like cranky old man but I'll be catching phones with a jack as long as I can! Not mad about having the option for wireless, but I'm a bit of a purist.

Plus once in a blue moon I'll DJ without Wi-Fi and use the phone to pull up a tune I don't have in my physical storage. Much harder to do that without 3.5mm jack.

  • Definitely intriguing. Partially in awe of this labor of love. Tiny Devs successfully competing with AAA is mighty impressive. Haven't really been big on city sims but must admit this has me curious, especially with the banner lords looking big troop combat biz.

Miiiight have to hop on the band wagon to see what the fuss is about.

  • Excellent points, appreciate the write up. Better said than I could myself.

I will also note that in my personal experience phone was more of a hail mary when I'd be doing like a wedding reception or private party and needed a tune for client that wasn't already in my USBs. When the tip depends on it, yes, I absolutely DJ with the phone.

  • As a DJ and audiophile in general, yeah I'm not thrilled on headphones using batteries and Bluetooth. I'll give up my hard-line when I'm dead.

Sure, some wireless for exercise or casual use is fine. Full deal breaker if I'm performing though.

  • Played hard for a couple weeks but got bored kinda quick. Feel like I wish there were, idk, more things to do or story to unfold.

Was playing in a buddy's server initially so maybe part of losing interest kinda quick was not wanting to run all the early game again solo.
