  • Hype for:

    • KDE 6 rolling out to distro's
    • Wayland as default
    • Waydroid Multi Window mode support

Due to it, we'll be able to use Android apps,
nicely integrated, alongside our Linux apps.

No more need to launch the full Android UI in a Wayland session window on X server.

I've been waiting for months for that!

  • Hype intensifies!!!

  • Thank you! :)

Sadly a lot of the small/niche sub Reddits I miss on Lemmy aren't synced (e.g. MysteryDungeon, ModdedMinecraft and Palworld), some exist here, but the activity on them is quite small.

However I did find !feedthebeast@lemmit.online on there ^

Sadly it doesn't appear to play nicely with the Eternity app I use to browse Lemmy though :/
It works now, guess it only syncs posts since you're subscribed though! :)

    Still appreciate the info though!

  • Fair, a lot of dumb toxicity on Reddit.
Perhaps only syncing posts and not comments could be a good idea?

  • I was more hoping on being able to read niche/small sub Reddits straight on Lemmy

Since most of them don't exist here yet / have much less content

  • An single sided interactive mirror of Reddit's communities.

It would be lovely to have all that content directly available right here.

And to be able to discuss the content with other Lemmy users.

But without being able to discuss / send back to the Reddit users.

  • What are your sources for debunking mine?
Besides you just not liking to face the truth?

    Blanket surveillance is not clickbait,
    it's spyware, and a problem.

But sure continue to stick your head in the sand,
that will surely help humanity beat this problem.

  • Here are a few examples, but if you do some research like I told you to, you'll stumble upon many more:

  • I do own my devices.

Companies want you to not own the devices, and rent them through a subscription model,
however I refuse to do that.

If you do that / fall for that,
then you're part of the problem making such a future a reality..

  • Educate yourself fruity,
    Apple does spy on you

  • I'm a developer, modder and privacy advocate, I know how to put a custom OS on my hardware, but I'm a minority.

However the average joe does not,
    and they, the majority,
    are forced into using spyware.

Often without them even knowing so,
    which is a true issue

  • I hate that nowadays everything comes with pre-installed spyware and that they charge you for it makes it even worse..

    • Want a TV? Suck on our Android TV with Google spyware embedded
    • Want a phone? Get our Android with Google spyware, or go for an Apple with Apple spyware
    • Want a computer? We'll shove Windows spyware down your throat

Ffs I just want devices that I own to not spy on me, and I can't even buy them anymore..

Each of them require flashing a custom privacy respecting OS onto it,
    and that's a real problem..

  • First time I hear about it.

    Briefly looked into it,
and it does appear to be a good/valid private chat client :)

  • It's what you see when a user (or admin?) deletes their post/comment.

  • I still and always will like the core principles of crypto.

Which is to take away the power of centralized abusing parties
(who slowly steal the value of our current FIAT currencies through deficit spending + fractional banking)
and put them back in the hands of the people through a fair de-centralized system
(which should not allow for deficit spending, nor fractional banking, and respects your privacy on top)

However I (and most people are) disgusted by the shit-show humanity has turned crypto into,
nearly the whole scene is made up of shit-coins, ponzi tokens, NFTs, P2E crap etc..

Monero is one of the few projects that actually still keeps the core principles in a high saddle.
Sadly people tend to forget about the core principles,
and instead get lured into and burned by get-rich-quick scams...

  • I never heard about Threema before,
quickly glanced at it's Github repo,
but I think I prefer Matrix/Element over it.

Threema seems to largely rely om GMS (Google Messaging Service),
meaning that most messages will go through Google's servers,
    albeit end-to-end encrypted for now,
I would not be suprised if Google would participate in "Harvest now, Decrypt later".

  • Wasn't aware of that, would love to hear about it if someome could shine some more light onto the matter :)

If that's the case, I have to stop using/recommending Session

  • Sign-up still requires a phone number.. -.-"

    Checkout Matrix/Element or Session,
there you can actually enjoy privacy by signing-up without a phone number/email:

Edit: Due to Session's company residing in Australia,
which appareantly has bad privacy laws,
i don't feel comfortable with recommending it anymore
