  • Sure, but most of the people on here have no clue what they're talking about and think using a VPN gives you pRiVaCy, or that not using Facebook somehow is sticking it to the man

  • Because this website is an echo chamber that hates big corporations and think the holy grail is to avoid having an online footprint by not using big apps, thus achieving "privacy".

In reality they're a minority of about 100:1.

  • I saw a video of someone teaching himself to like celery, and coerced my girlfriend to do the same - it works!

You literally just start by nibbling a bit every day and start eating more and more as you can handle it. She loves celery now, to the point where she just eats it raw as snacks.

Whether it's worth the apparent torture is up to you. To be frank, picky eaters give me second hand embarrassment when out dining, since you can teach yourself to like basically everything. Usually it's just people who didn't get much variety as children.

  • I work in IT for a major telecom provider in Scandinavia, and almost everyone takes 3 weeks summer vacation, mostly at the same time.

Management recommends taking as much as possible over the summer, as we have a 5-6 week "slow period" when people's 3 weeks don't align.

Other than that, it's common to just take the rest during other school holidays.

We get 6 weeks by default and earn our way up to 7 weeks after 5 years.

  • It just isn't. A car would need at least 2 passengers to beat a plane, maybe 3-4 depending on the car. Jet engines are incredibly efficient and planes carry a lot of people. If they all hopped in cars, the planet would turn into a smog hellscape.

If you care about personal emissions so much, take a train.

  • You are right, it's very simple. Traffic will go wherever is shortest by default, because that's just how networking works on your pc. Shut off the shortest path (or every other path) and it's forced through your VPN connection.
