Codeberg can suffer from the same DMCA requests but at least is not managed by Microsoft.
To really avoid(or ignore) DMCAs you need to self-host/use a vps for your own version control tool like Forgejo/GitLab or use a decentralized one like Radicle.
Mastodon is a self-hostable software, not a service controlled by a single person. The servers are hosted by inviduals so you should be saying "Some people on Mastodon thinks X", instead of the whole platform.
If your router is the one that your ISP provided, torrenting can affect your internet connection stability by having too many connections active, because most of the time that hardware is trash (at least from my experience).
Open source but the account is tied/managed by the official website, I wish it was decentralized or federated.
