  • And it takes staggeringly little to bribe them. Barret is worth like 2.5 million. Clarence Thomas is worth like 2.1 million. These aren’t even rounding errors to actuall rich people. Hell, if I were a morally bankrupt sociopath with extensive insider trading information, and no consequences for my actions, like Thomas, I sure as hell would have made a LOT more money in the amount of time he’s been on the court.

  • Shell made 40 billion in profits in 2022. 100 million is one quarter of one percent of that. That’s what they couldn’t spare to even look like they were trying to help the environment. The things that should be done to these executives would probably get me banned from Lemmy if I said. Fuck these villainous asshats with broken glass.

  • I’m gonna go out on a limb and say before that, we should have elected Al Gore in 2000. Oh wait, we did elect Al Gore in 2000.

  • I do ok, but all my debt and bills are telling me I need to get on this gravy train

  • Cool, maybe we can start a club or something

  • Three scuzzbuckets get a slap on the wrist, with zero criminal accountability, and will surely, definitely, continue to offend? This is news?

  • Would you just shut up, and tell me how Annabel will heal her heartache?!?!

  • My iPad Pro has a persistent number line. iPad Air does not. It’s maddening. I tried swiftkey and hated it. iOS also constantly botches my typing and it’s infuriating. That said, Android is not preferable IMO.

  • I want exactly the iOS keyboard layout except larger letter keys, and a dedicated number line on top on ALL my devices

  • Have you seen the cost of deli meat lately?

  • Wait, my condition has a name?

  • Like, why even have a government, if it can’t feed, clothe, and house the people? Shouldn’t that be priority #1?

  • You guys go into the office?

  • How much additional do I save if was planning on having avocado toast?

  • “The Supreme Court follows some of the financial disclosure rules mandated for lower courts judges, but in a statement earlier this year, the justices indicated that they believed they were doing so voluntarily. The justices are also not subject to other procedures used in lower courts to address potential conflicts of interest.”

I don’t see what could possibly go wrong.

“Chief Justice John Roberts and other members of the court – as well as many Republicans on the Hill – have signaled that they believe that the justices can be trusted to police themselves on ethical issues.”

As is clearly supported by the evidence.

“The new report is the broadest look yet at how Thomas’ social circle has funded – with limited disclosure to the public – a regular stream of extravagant excursions and events since he became a Supreme Court justice. These costly trips and travel perks often went unreported on the justice’s financial disclosure forms, ProPublica said in its investigation.”

    Wait, wut?
