This is terroristic behavior, no? What's the plan now? Approach those properties? Then what? Threaten or harass? Ffs man, lock Trump up and these loonies. Restore civil order

There's a lot of harm actually. Not to you, but:

To lots of cows/sheep/goats that have to be forcibly impregnated by humans or by socially inept bulls/rams/billies that physically/sexually assault said animals, to be forcibly separated from their offspring by humans upon birth to widespread emotional distress, to be forcibly maneuvered into a cage and hooked up to tubes for hours at a time to extract their milk (aka breast milk for baby cows/sheep/goats) for days and weeks and months on end, and to be forcibly killed at an early age by humans to extract all parts of the animals' corpses for human taste sensation or as protection from the environment (clothing).

Then, lots of humans get harmed during the impregnation/separation/killing steps above either due to the animals retaliating against humans, or due to humans getting injured from the machinery that processes animal corpses, or due to the illnesses that arise from working in environments that process animal corpses, or due to the illnesses that arise from living around environments that process animal corpses.

Lots of harm behind it that you don't see, and that's by design.

Hell yes!! Step 1 of who knows towards better repairability for one of the most complex technologies accessible to most of the people on the planet.

Hopefully these companies will realize that it's just easier to make these changes globally and trickle this down to other countries, but we'll have to see. I personally would want the US to continue this trend, like with what we saw in the Agricultural Right to Repair Act. Maybe an Electronics Right to Repair Act?

Fairphone 4 from certain vendors comes preloaded with e/OS which is like a deGoogled Android. Might work for people looking to move away from Google. I'm considering it myself for my next phone.

It's been great seeing the community grow. Hope this keeps up at a sustainable rate until Lemmy/Mastodon/Pixelfed/etc. become mainstays.

It's so backwards. Making this stretch of coastline walkable means more people show up, and if businesses realize this potential then they can capitalize. Makes sooo much sense

I was just responding to the first point made by OP. Didn't intend on commenting on the other stuff because either I agree or don't know enough to contribute!

There's a phone company out of Europe, Fairphone, that's striving to fix these problems. I can't really say if their specs are up to par or not (fwiw their newest phone can do 5G), but you can repair you phone with their Spare Parts offerings, like the selfie camera, earpiece, rear cameras, speaker, USB-C port, display, back cover, battery, etc.

Issue is that you can't buy it in the US or elsewhere, but there are some tricks where you can get it into the US/CA by going with Clove or Reship.

Phone looks to work best on T-Mobile networks, so AT&T or Verizon users might see terrible performance.

So, not panacea, but a decent solution for those willing to go down that path.
