  • I don’t understand these tools that think they live on another planet. If they wreck this one with hedonistic malicious disregard, there’s no place to go. They’re kings of a shitpile. Money is meaningless at that point.

  • Subscription military service. Some really dystopian stuff I’ve only heard of when imagined in some pretty cynical sci-fi books.

  • They finally picked something from the pile to impeach him over? Not DOGE, not threatening to invade our neighbors, not the whipsawing of the market thanks to his tariff games, or any of the rest?

  • I think the assumption is you’re not telling anyone you’re landing with whatever you take off the ship.

  • They just make shit up as they go and expect everyone to obey and call it the truth.

  • Extremists always destroy history so they can write their own.

  • People here really hate landlords. Doesn’t matter if they’re joking or not.

  • Agreed. Are they punching up or down? What’s the potential harm and who will it harm?

If they’re just setting themselves up for disaster it’s probably best to remain hands-off and distance yourself. If they have a family I’d at least tell them what an idiot they are and then distance myself. Probably might be worth checking with the partner and tell them to protect themselves if they aren’t part of it.

And yeah, like you said, anything causing harm to innocent parties like selling hard drugs or guns is a non-starter.

  • There’s criminals under every rock and behind every tree. Gotta have unsecured guns within easy reach at all times. On counters, in bedside drawers, in closets, under car seats…

  • Plenty of older people have ASD. I know a couple personally. They have childhood stories of being beaten, yelled at, difficulty with teachers and peers. They claim to be fine today, but telling horror stories of your trauma as a kid really says otherwise. If ASD was bad enough to be “retarded”, they were kept from society and/or put in State Homes. RFK is ADHD, and the only thing that kept him out of jails due to the untreated effects when he was younger is hs family name and wealth.

  • Indirectly, maybe.

I also think it’s mostly just shitty parents, possibly who also had shitty parents, that forced the “hard knock life” on kids to make them “tough” and self reliant. Assuming they weren’t just regular old being abusive in some form. Being poor can also drive people out, if someone isn’t earning money in an already economically tight situation it can create a lot of friction.

Americans have a kinda messed up family life. This “self reliance” that separates the family unit and attempts to make it a standalone entity against everyone else really doesn’t reflect the way a lot of the rest of the world operates with closer family and community ties. Even not too long ago America was a lot different in that fashion. Probably WW2 and the growth that followed were the main shift.

  • But they’re fine with letting the country burn so they can keep their jobs.

  • Unfortunately distrust of the government permeates American society. Sometimes it’s well founded. Americans love to try to cheat the government from top to bottom, and that includes taxes. And there’s the whole lobby of tax preparers and filers that don’t want the simplicity of government issued prepared tax bills. So to sum up - “I don’t trust the government, I want the ability to avoid telling them about the car I sold for a huge profit, and all the tax preparers want to keep billing me to do my taxes.”

  • Government isn’t supposed to be profitable. You cannot keep cutting to profitability in government. That’s not why it exists. Big difference. However, it should be accountable. That’s what the bean counters should be doing.

  • This is the self reliance they wanted. Thy got exactly what they wanted.

  • Thanks for the work you did. These idiots haven’t a clue what they’re destroying.
