  • Not to shit on you (well maybe as little) but the guy has a point.

You want them to not care. Doesn't that go both ways? If some edgy straight horny teen wants more straight tiddies and less gay in his game, who the fuck cares?

Cause let's be honest, that's what we're talking about here. Teens and desperate 30 year olds.

And don't you think what you imply is scary?

And with that I mean : "people’s thoughts influence their actions"

    I fucking hope so.

And who are you to tell them what is right and what is wrong?

  • The question, the problem with crypto, is not how, it's why?

It isn't about if we can or cannot. It's about the usecase of it all.

For now, the only use case crypto has is wel... Betting. It's hard to call it anything else like speculation.

You would be out of your mind to use it as a currency. The worth of crypto is too volatile. Even black market usage is problematic due to this. (did i just buy a pound of coke for 50k or 100k? Who knows? I guess we see tomorrow)

It also is too slow to use as a currency; the transaction times are off the charts compared to other forms.

It also is the most wasteful form for storing wealth.

It's also the most risky way for storing wealth. The amount of hacks and scams are insane.

It, in its current form will never be a legal tender. Currency is about control for governments, to devalue or not, to prop up the economy, boosting it or easing it down when needed and crypto doesn't provide that. So to use that wealth you'll always need an exchange. A third party. Which, recent history has thought us, are very prone to abuse and regulation. they can be banned overnight. (China comes to mind)

It's a solution. The question is for what. The popularity of it all is based on 2 things : greed and the fear of missing out. (which again boils down to greed)

  • The right response to this meme would be that other meme: first time?

    :)

What I mean to say is : this bullshit is of all times.

Just look back in recent history. A long string of wars and economic downturns. GEN Xers have everything you have and the wonderful 70s, 80s & 90s added to the mix. You know, the never ending Vietnam war, Afghanistan, iran, gulf wars, yugoslavia, kaukasus, latin america in flames and a lot of other bullshit.

Economics? Ad to present day woes the oil crisis, housing crisis of the 80s where 15% mortgage rates meant that yes, housing was cheap and no, nobody could pay the mortgage and that bullshit in the 90s which I cant remember by name. And the dot.com burst of the 00's.

We all want it to stop. Like forever. But you know the line :

    Money talks , bullshit walks.

The money is talking. We're just sitting here bullshitting. And, to end with that other meme, apparently: this is fine.

Because we in Europe are all voting hard right and across the pond people seem hell bend on the return of the orange faced demented warrior. And can we really blame 'em? Because what choice do they really have? Grandpa1 vs grandpa2? A competition about whose dementia is the worst? What's this? The soviet polit bureau of the 80s? ?

So. Yes, you reap what you sow.

  • I dont believe that.

Buying twitter was his ego getting the better of him. Once he came to his senses he tried every which way to get out of the deal. But he couldn't. He had to buy it.

Hanlon tought us: Never account to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity. Buying twitter was never really thought trough. It was a joke, a meme. Something never meant to be taken seriously. He was sure he could alter the deal. But he couldn't. Instead he instead of Lando was left with the clown's shoes, unicycle and ballerina outfit.

Ever since he's trying to recuperate something, anything. And nothing seems to work, everything he does only backfires. It seems he's embracing the backfire now. Musk being musk, that isn't something he does without a plan.

The question is... What's the plan. And this explanation seems plausible.

And by the way: he's still just doing this for shit and giggles. He's having fun, first and foremost. He's giving us all the finger. Look at that guy during that interview. Everything he says and does is very deliberate. He enjoys his trolling.

To him this isn't real money. He can piss it through the toilet and it would never ever result in any consequence whatsoever for him.

He can lose 90% of his worth and would still be insanely impossibly rich.

  • You destroy your house, one of many you own. The bank sees this and tries to sell the loan because the collateral for that loan is looking more shaky every day.

    Banks dont like risk.

You being a wealthy guy, buy that loan through one of your companies at half price. Result: you win. You just payed 6b for 13b and have no more monthly payments.

Yes. The house is destroyed in the process. But you don't care, you bought it in a temporary lapse of judgement anyway. Fuck that house.

Maybe you can still sell the ground the house was built on and recoup some more. That would be awesome.

  • What hamas did, what started this war, was absolutely unforgivable, horrendous and barbaric. It's impossible to support that organisation in any way anymore.

What Israel did which led to this over the last 10 years was stupid and very discriminatory. The amount of violence against the palistinian people during the last decade is well documented and inexcusable. Which could only lead to a violent reaction. (illegal settlements, violence against palistinians, discrimination, withholding electricity and water)

The rise to (political) power of hamas was a, self defeating victory. It made the position of the palistinian people worse, not better.

The return of Netanyahu, a convicted criminal if im not mistaken is baffling and unexplainable to any outsider.

The position of the west in this whole mess should at least raise an eye brow of the voters of our democracies.

Israels reaction to hamas' horrific action is completely out of proportion and the attack on the hospital was very wrong in every way. The amount of "weapons" found there means nothing in a war zone. It's quite possible that the weapons shown are personal sidearms of wounded palistinian fighters dropped off at the hospital.

The Israeli involvement in Syria seems to be aimed at kicking syria while its down so it stays down. This helps current Israeli military security but it's very short sighted.

Israeli mossad actions (killings of scientist etc.) abroad (iran, etc.) while understandable from a military standpoint do not further the Israeli cause. Short term it increased Israeli military security but long term it has great repercussions. It eroded the trustworthiness of Israel to SA levels.

Israel is on the stupid path for at least the last decade. Ditto Hamas. Hamas especially should be smarter since they're clearly the less powerful of the two. Israel should be much smarter then this looking at the history of the Jewish people and their state.

To me it seems nobody really red and understood the koran, the tanakh or the teachings of christ in whichever form.

But they do use those as an excuse to kill each other. Which is weird.

So.... Putting this all together I can say nothing. Looking at it from western Europe i see a gigantic mess which can only end in tears and genocide. Nobody is willing to give in, so blood will continue to flow. Until there is none left.

What I can say is: Pax Americana and the European stability will end, somewhere in the next century. While unfortunately for me personally as a European there are very clear markers all around us (if you want to see them, that is) that the current stability/status quo which exist since ww2 will not last.

Israel should take that into account. Plan for a viable future without american and European support. I don't see that. I only see very short term reactionary policies.

  • There is stuff worth pirating, stuff which can't be found through other means or is way overpriced. Stuff like old movies or impossible to legally gather roms.

For all others: "convenience is king."

And you're smart to not pirate software. The. "no illegal software" rule has saved me many times.

  • Yeah, no.

The hunt is only fun if you've got time to spare.

Throw in a spouse, kids, good but demanding job, a place to live, social obligations, detoriating (geriatric) parents, and you're so happy you can just mash one single button and your favourite track, game or series starts to play.

That's the reason why people stop pirating. Time.

When time is not (yet) your most precious resource you can see the fun in anything. Even virus scanning.

  • Where I live (NL, EU) there are several charging stations (+20 spots) within a 10 mile radius. Every neighborhood has like 5-10 parking spots with a charger. Around 10-15% of the residential housing have their own high-power charging outlet. Office buildings have around the same percentage (10-15%) of their parking lot converted to charging parking spots. Even parking lots in cities come with that same percentage of charging stations these days.

Next to that around 30% of all housing is equipped with solar panels. New office buildings and factories all have giant solar arrays on their roofs. No exceptions.

In the EU the biggest problem is not willingness or effort. The biggest problem is reality. You can't connect that all to a power grid designed in the 60s. Energy infrastructure is hard, big and slow to build. Our grid is full. We are building like mad men but it just isn't realisable in a short time. Especially since all of the EU is building a new grid at the same time.. Building (nuclear) power plants, wind mills, conversion stations, high power grid cables all takes a lot of time.

But, mobility in the EU is starting to become too expensive for the median income. Here a litre of ron95 gasoline is around 2 euros. The purchase of new cars are taxed to insanity here in NL. Around 50% of the price is tax. A new electric vehicle with acceptable range is somewhere around 50-60k (ionic, ev5/6)

Electric vehicles had all sorts of tax exemptions. That's changing. Soon they're also taxes to the fullest.

Alas, everyone who doesn't have a job which provides a car does what I do: drive that old piece of garbage till it really falls apart.

And I think that are the 2 main reasons for the laxer rules on ice vehicles. Reality regarding the needed infrastructure and cost to the public. Everything has become so much more expensive the last 4 years.

  • Why? I don't know. It just annoys me without end and it lessens my what's the word... Involvement? With the platform.

It's always the same sour shit which gets old.

There's only room for one opinion here or so it seems to me.
