  • Ah, the Rashomon-inspired ep, "A Matter of Perspective." That was a good one! R.I.P. Margolis, he was a great actor.

  • I find it sad that you feel no empathy for the kids (or their parents), and that your first thought is to assign blame. I don't see the point in saying something so callous, but perhaps your intention is to spread hate. You wouldn't be a hateful person now, would you? I suppose only you know the real answer to that. Good luck to you, I know you'll figure it out one day.

  • It would be easier to get behind what "others believe" if the system they love so dearly wasn't a proven failure for anyone who isn't wealthy. It's been abused for decades, and all we have to show for it is more poor people suffering. You're 100% right in that (some) conservatives do disagree with AOC on specific issues; it's just that those issues in question were/are largely created by and/or supported by conservatives, who have little to offer aside from "we don't want anything to change."

This kind of akshually mentality distracts from the issues, which is what you're doing right now by nitpicking an obviously false absolute statement OP made. Nobody really thinks @ventrix is talking about 100% of all conservatives; to make a claim like that is more misleading and more prone to have a negative impact than anything OP said.

  • It's so melodramatic, it sounds like a child's attempt at satire. Like, try saying that out loud and not cringing.

  • 80 Accessibility score on the new homepage.

It's worth pointing out that score of 80/100 is the result of an automated scan, which currently can catch no more than 40% of all potential accessibility issues. The remaining 60% (it's likely higher than this btw) can only be detected manually using a screen reader and keyboard only (for keyboard accessibility, as some people are able to use only the keyboard). So backing up what you said, the accessibility problem with Reddit is much worse than is being reported.

Both Reddit and Techcrunch need to do better.

They do, and the way they continue to mistreat their disabled users, even after meeting with them to discuss these issues, indicates they don't care.

  • In the interest of your safety (and that of your fam), I'd seriously consider backing off for now until you're sure the next move you make is a safe one. The police notified your FIL's old boss that he tipped them off, and even though you're in a different part of the country (by the sound of it), it's possible the old boss might learn you also called about the property. And if you and your FIL were the only ones to ever ask questions about the property, you're potentially drawing attention to yourself if you make the info public, even if it's done anonymously. I mean, who else would they suspect?

I'm not saying to do nothing; I have no suggestions on what you can actually do. But your FIL is dead (I am sorry for your loss), so no one's going to be disappointed if you call a time out and take time to think things through. Because if your suspicions are true, these are dangerous people you're dealing with here. Be careful, OP.

  • Ok, you know what? I agree. You're right, it was really presumptuous and hypocritical to say that. And disproportionately hostile. But if I had left out that last sentence, what would your reaction be? Would you have agreed, or would you have claimed it was not propaganda and that the dude was not acting in bad faith?

  • Dumb? I thought so too, then I reread their comment and looked at their post history. Not by a long shot, they know exactly what they're doing. From their first comment posted 8 hours ago: "I’m a moderate that a lot of people confuse for a conservative."

It's textbook conservative propaganda: pose as a "moderate" with a "fair and balanced" opinion, paint the Rs as misunderstood, and poison the well with a straw man argument. I mean, really, the idea of trying to "shut down the war machine" has nothing to do at all with people's fears of what another Trump presidency would bring. That's a straw man argument. It's absolute horse shit.

In other words, just more bad faith acting from a minority party that relies on deception to make it look like they have more than 35% support nationwide. Next they'll say "Why are all crimes committed by black people? Just asking questions."

  • All I see is someone making weak excuses to put a fascist back in the White House.

If Trump is the only one who has the balls to put an end to the American World Police, then so be it.

You have got to be shitting me. He had his chance; he was in office for four years. Get the fuck outta here, man.

  • Thanks, actually I think your response was pretty quick. Cheers!

  • Thank you, but yeah that is what I do, I don't engage on principle. No additional brain power wasted.

  • Lol I dunno anything else that looks like sticky pinto beans, so probably yeah

  • Have a “wrong” opinion and see how it goes.

I'm sorry the world is changing too quickly for you to adapt, but you still can't say the "n" word.

  • Called an FD-1023 form, it involves claims a confidential informant made in 2020 about Hunter Biden’s alleged business dealings when he served on the board of Ukrainian energy company Burisma. Top Republicans have acknowledged they cannot confirm whether the information is true.

This is all political theater. The document is just a complaint form they filled out. It contains no evidence, just accusations. Of course, I expect no less from the Fascist party, it's right out of their playbook.

  • I don’t like the color blue. AITA?

  • Bone is great, but I think Adams' work, particularly The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, will resonate with OP. You're right, it's an easy read (but not necessarily simple), and it never feels like a chore. @QuietStorm, if the opening paragraphs appeal to you, you might dig this book:

The house stood on a slight rise just on the edge of the village. It stood on its own and looked out over a broad spread of West Country farmland. Not a remarkable house by any means—it was about thirty years old, squattish, squarish, made of brick, and had four windows set in the front of a size and proportion which more or less exactly failed to please the eye.

The only person for whom the house was in any way special was Arthur Dent, and that was only because it happened to be the one he lived in. He had lived in it for about three years, ever since he had moved out of London because it made him nervous and irritable. He was about thirty as well, tall, dark-haired and never quite at ease with himself. The thing that used to worry him most was the fact that people always used to ask him what he was looking so worried about. He worked in local radio which he always used to tell his friends was a lot more interesting than they probably thought. It was, too—most of his friends worked in advertising.

On Wednesday night it had rained very heavily, the lane was wet and muddy, but the Thursday morning sun was bright and clear as it shone on Arthur Dent’s house for what was to be the last time.

It hadn’t properly registered yet with Arthur that the council wanted to knock it down and build a bypass instead.

  • You can fuck right off with that bad faith "both sides" horseshit. You aren't fooling anyone, people are wising up to this shitty tactic.
