  • this may be an asinine fear based on my rudimentary knowledge, but I hope they never drill the moon, because human greed can't be contained and some dumb ass will just see $$$ signs like some looney toons cartoon shit in their eyes and want to mine the whole thing up. Then there goes a ton of shit that we depend on the moons gravity for. Pretty similar to the rick and morty episode about pluto except the moon instead of our own planet.

  • I don't understand your argument about commuting. So you have to commute to go visit people...and this is somehow new for you? Are all your best friends at the same company? Otherwise how does that make it any different to literally anyone else? If I want to see my friends I gotta get into a vehicle or transport my body in some way to see them and vice versa. You're commuting either way.

  • They're downplaying them possibly because you can't die from marijuana withdrawal. It's physically impossible, you can experience nasty side effects but you will live. Compare that to a heroin addict, pain pill, or alcoholic who has a high chance of literally dying if they stop cold turkey.

Talk to those with withdrawal symptoms from "real" problem drugs and it won't even sound like the same experience. The other side is too, you're approaching this pretty unscientifically. It's possible you actually ARE depressed and aren't use to feeling it full force because you were self medicating for years.

  • ....what are you talking about. Nes wasn't compatible with snes, snes not compatible with N64, N64 not compatible with GameCube. GameCube was compatible with wii/Wii u but Wii u wasn't compatible with the switch. Their track record shows they are very hit and miss, especially since they have the new mentality of porting games to their online service.

  • You're the one arguing animals are smarter because they passed down history orally. Yes some of humanity's tools have impacted the environment but we also have the capability to save not only ourselves but literally every other species. No single animal ever comes close to this. Period. Call it a god or savior complex, fine, but the truth remains humans are the only species we have ever encountered in the known universe with that kind of power and potential.

As to your evidence of cetaceans, I'm not sure that matters considering it's all hypothetical unproven. You're trying to weigh something that we can actually confirm against abstract conjuncture like they're on the same level. I might be a millionaire some day, does that mean I should spend like I am one now?

  • Your argument makes no sense because humans have been passing down oral history for ages too before the internet and writing. It was literally one person's job to memorize everything and then teach it to the next "history holder." That's why we have such shit record keeping before we invented books. And why ballads and songs were also used to help memorization.

However to a lesser extent books, but definitely the internet is far beyond a basic data aggregator. It allows instant communication across the entire world akin to telepathy, seemingly endless space for knowledge good or bad, entertainment, business enabling/generating, allows you to 1 way communicate with the dead by reading wisdom from some person 1,000 of years ago. You keep saying "well humans have a tool bias", yeah no kidding because the tools we make LITERALLY CHANGE THE WORLD, for good or bad. I believe it was the phantom menace who so aptly put it, "the ability to communicate doesn't make you intelligent."

  • Hilarious of you to say considering 1 smart phone with internet access has more accessible information than your entire school library of physical books but yeah they have 'nearly 0 educational benefit'. Nevermind all the apps/YouTube channels dedicated to learning something. You may not believe it but I passed college algebra using Khan Academy because my actual teacher sucked so bad at teaching I was almost failing before I switched to the academies online tutorials. That aside can a smart phone be used for mindless shit? Absolutely, but I'd also bet your library has fiction books in it too. Should we remove them simply because they provide 'nearly zero educational benefit'? Why stop at fiction then? Why aren't we removing all aspects of curriculum that provide 'nearly zero educational benefit'?

  • Nah they also cut back season 3 probably because they're running out of course material. First 2 seasons were 25 episodes and the third was 12. Shame because I'd like to see another season but for all intents and purposes it's looking to go the way of many animes before it where they ended on a cliff hanger and then never finish the series.
