  • What if I told you it benefits the media companies (mostly run by Republican supporters) if it always looks like it's neck and neck. It doesn't actually get the right voters out.

Fuck what the media says the count is, just vote ppl

  • Take that an consider he freaked out about 60k "to burry a fucking mexican" when speaking of an american soldier of mexican descent raped and murdered by another solider. If he can say that about an american citizen sacrificing everything for their country, he can decide who is american or not in an instant.

  • They know taxpayers will foot the bill and they will make astronomical amounts of money off it. Plus they get a stranglehold on energy.

Tech companies aren't going to buy power plants and enshitify them. Allowing the tech giants at the table at all is far passed enshitification of democracy (and your tax dollars). Governments should have built the energy using the people's money, and profited off businesses using extreme amounts of it (bringing a lot of dollars back). Instead they'll use the corporate money to build energy, and profiting off the people who need to pay the corporation

  • Subsidies are important. You pay enough tax dollars that some of those should be used to help the country be stronger economically. You don't want all farmers to disappear from the US because China can make food with slaves for waaaay cheaper.

The problem is theyre laughing at you helping their friends with that money, and calling it capitalism. It's socialism for corporations using the people's money really

  • Unrealted but I made an account the day RIF stopped working, never went back. I used the new apps that were being spun up, and at the time I wasn't able to create an account on any of the 3 options except lemmy.ml.

Does everyone think I'm tankie for that? And am I missing out on good content because lemmy.ml is banned/shunned?

  • That doesn't really matter. They were just trying to use the system to get more tax cuts and passes.

Kamala wants to raise taxes on the rich 4+%, while Trump wants to lower them by ~1.5% (again). These asshole would want to see Trump harm americans and destroy the system for a few extra % in their pocket.

  • Not so huge, he's a billionaire.

    In theory he's allowed to:

    • mistreat his workers
    • not pay his bills
    • pump and dump stocks
    • undermine the worlds help to Ukraine by messing with their internet for Russia
    • Steal subsidies for EVs and lying about the capabilities
    • Bribing officials to get public transport contracts and never fulfill them
    • bribe voters / election interference
    • defame everyone on his platform with misinformation and supports domestic terrorism

There's plenty more, he's probably heavily cooking the books at Tesla too.

  • Because it was a pandemic fueled rush. Everyone thought gaming was the best bet because we're all at home. Companies like meta, Microsoft etc.. grew astronomically on tax payer subsidies making it even better money. Other companies tried to invest or spin up game divisions.

Now the party is over, it doesn't even matter if these games are good or have potential. They put the sunk cost in the "pandemic's fault" spreadsheet, and take all the liabilities and costs from the expense spreadsheet. It looks fantastic on paper to investors, the real numbers dont really matter.

  • Same here (15 years). I work in all sorts of frameworks and languages. I normally would have just googled a given question to see the code i need, paste it in with everything that's wrong, and fix it to my liking. I know what I'm doing I was just missing the specific words i havent used in a couple years, i still understand them. Copilot just avoid me opening google, clicking through some bad SEO, passing the bad answers, and doing that a couple more times to bring in everything I need. It's a google formatter.

It's also exactly like searching google. If you ask "is this cancer" you'll find cases where it's cancer, if you ask "is this not cancer" youll find cases where it's cancer. You can't trust it in that way, but you can still quickly parse the internet. I make juniors explain their code so even if they paste it in, they're kind force to research it more to make sure they get it; it's on the reviewers now to train llm kiddos.

  • It's like when you say something is full. Double full doesn't mean anything, but there's still a difference between full of marbles and full of sand depending what you're trying to deduce. There's functional applications for this comparison. We could theoretically say there's twice as much sand than marbles in "full" if were interested in "counting".

The same way we have this idea of full, we have the idea of infinity which can affect certain mathematics. Full doesn't tell you the size of the container, it's a concept. A bucket twice as large is still full, so there are different kinds of full like we have different kinds of infinity.

  • Exactly, Fortune 500 companies and their stupid business garbage using software.

It's not a problem with software, it's a big tech problem. You made it clearer than i could have. Linux maintainers arent business school graduates, but they still need to be paid decades after the "software is done". It's not free

And if you mean providing random statistics and no sources is business 101, i can hardly disagree

  • Hasn't changed?

    10-20% of businesses?

Dude nobody has time to refute these nonsense claims. It's not "tu quoque" if that's not the statement discrediting your claim and if youre clearly talking like someone who isn't in the industry. Software is more than what twitter says exists, and goes beyond FAANG or the fortune 500.
