  • The closest to Arch, a rolling cutting edge distro, is probably openSUSE Tumbleweed. openSUSE has excellent snapper integration that takes a snapshot before and after you touch zypper, so it's easy to undo changes that might ruin your system. CachyOS also has that same great snapper integration, but that's still Arch.

  • And yet cats kill billions of birds each year. Wild.

  • Haha, one of the comments on that article is just:

    Recession indicator.

    .. And I think they're right. 😭

  • Shame that nobody had a 360Β° photo of the spot on google maps streetview there, I checked all over that island.

  • That's certainly a concern for some, but I'm using like 30 GB for all the things I've installed, which is a lot (12 (flatpak-system), 76 (flatpak-user)) but that's on a 2 TB drive, which amounts to like 1Β½% of the total available space. I don't think that's a bad trade.

  • I barely remember the story of SiN, but I do remember enjoying it when it came out. That whole "guy in the chair"/mission control shtick is probably why I hold this game in the same category as Deus Ex in my head, even though they're very different.

  • I tend to stop torrents when they hit 1000, I feel like that's a "good enough" contribution on public stuff, except when I notice less than 100 seeders, then I tend to keep it going.

  • I've probably hurt myself worse, but one memory that stands out is me crawling around in a bush, getting my pants stuck and then losing my grip so I turn upside down with my head in a bunch of stinging nettles.

  • Sorry, but anyone taking up space in my pigeon brain is "big enough" to be petty. I don't know what qualifies as big enough for you though.
And just to be clear, I'm just talking about boycotting, not leaving nasty reviews or messages.

  • I know this will sound selfish (to make it about Denmark, apologies), but that's pretty much what the Danish Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen used as an excuse to remove one of Denmarks holidays: "The assembly lines runs 24/7 in Russia".
It feels like we're involved in perpetual war just to ensure that the improved productivity isn't paid back to workers in the form of more leisure time or pay. No, that surplus has to go to the war effort! There is a hint of 1984 to it: "We've always been at war with Eastasia.".
That's not to say I don't support Ukraine. But I am also mindful of the fact that the war is being used as a stick as well.

  • I was told a long time ago by a teacher that "there are no whole numbers after the comma". That is to say, one should say one-point-three-two, but not a lot of people I've met since care either way.

  • I don't think that counts as a PM/DM though.

  • Tbh, I had to find the way to do so myself just now but:

    1. Search for the user using their full mastadon address handle via lemmy search function
    2. Open their profile and press "send message".

  • I've been using DS3 controllers for over a decade, but they are starting to wear. The drift isn't bad at all, but it's there, although I suspect it's mostly a few rubbers that'd need replacing, I have heard great things about 8BitDo, especially their Hall Effect controllers. Very reasonably priced as well.
So this announcement is just the kick in the butt I needed to get a Pro 2 Hall Effect one.

  • Yeah, around here, nachos that you buy from the local pizzaria is pretty much this, just some sad moist chips with a clump of stiffened formerly hot cheese, olives and jalapeΓ±os.
And honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if a variant where the nachos are replaced with pommes frites already exists somewhere.
