  • I heard the same argument from IBM and HP when they started producing Servers, desktop computers and laptops, amongst many industries. With the new laws affecting the procurement of high end chips for China the motivation is very big to develop their own high end chip manufacturing machines.

  • Has anybody thought about making flying a good experience? I used to travel a lot before 9/11, after that it was once or twice a year and mostly one or two weeks, then COVID hit and everything stopped. After COVID, every trip has been a nightmare where absolutely no one is responsible for anything. Traveling is not for me anymore. Maybe in the not so distant future it will get better.

  • Companies will charge as much as elasticity will allow them. Customers will always find the best cost / benefit relationship to maximize their limited resources.

The new technologies will make entertainment creation a lot cheaper, we might see an important decline in prices in the next few years.

  • The US is in complete denial of the genocide they did dropping two nuclear bombs in two different cities with mostly just civilians. Everybody else in the world see the pictures of the Japanese aftermath when we study the second world war.

  • You can't have a society based on morals and you can't impose your morals on others. Still I respect your morals as long as you keep them to yourself and to regulate your behavior. It's ok not to date 18 yo if you are 40 based on your morals. It's not ok to bullie 40 year olds and 18 year olds when they mutually agree to date between them.

  • Dig never died. We still moved to Reddit. What calls my attention is that most of us left Reddit when they changed the site UI combined with their insistance on banning people posting the Blue ray decoding key. Reddit has been way worst recently so my guess is that Lemmy is maturing enough to lure all those not happy with Reddit.
