  • A long time ago, I worked in a computer repair shop. An old lady brought in her desktop for malware removal. It was a nicely spec’d machine, and included an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700.

At the time, I had a Core 2 Duo E6600, I was on a tight budget, and was big into gaming.

“She’ll be fine.” “She doesn’t even know what’s in there now.” “She’s not using it to its full potential…”

I convinced myself it was a victimless crime.

    I swapped the processors. :(

  • Yeah, I deal with this. Most notably for me is during the “daily standup” at work in which everyone on the team is supposed to recount what was worked on yesterday, what they’re working on today, and if there are any roadblocks.

Even though I know I was busy the day before, I often struggle to recall precisely what I worked on.

  • I will always upvote Extra Fabulous Comics. There’s some genius in the “hello” formality followed by the immediate crass of “lemme get that dick” that I find inordinately hilarious.

  • Yep, I sure did. For quite a while too, as I recall. I think I was too scared to move to it permanently and dual-booted with WinXP. First time I saw the status bar of a copy or install processing and seeing it do the …rolling colors in the filled in portion I thought something was wrong. I was used to a static status bar where it just filled in and didn’t do anything fancy.
