I think I might have an explanation. Lemmy seems to have an issue with CBC articles for some reason. When I post them, it doesn't show that it's "posted" but "hangs" in the posting page. So I clicked it to submit again. It doesn't happen with any other site. Just CBC.

Housing shortages aren't just local. It's global. The world's population has always been growing. There's always been immigration. The reason we have governments is properly manage and plan for these things. It's been a failure at every single level - local, municipal, provincial, and federal.

There is nothing wrong with "demand". It is essential to economic growth. Market forces, and governments are the ones failing here.

Let them get very serious about separation. and its consequences. Only when they face it will they realize what they'll have. Or not have. Once Germany joined EU and uses Euro, it is like a currency depreciation making their goods more cost effective in the world market. Thus Germany enjoys a huge trade surplus. It's not a coincidence Germany has had huge trade surpluses since they went to a common currency. This surplus would shrink if they went back to their own currency, as the Mark will appreciate due to the trade surplus vs other currencies making their goods less competitive in global market.

I don't believe he's stating this to "appease" his cult. This is an extension of his ego, the same way he admires Putin. He wants to be known as the president who expanded the US.
