  • Dude just wants to crater the US economy, specifically the stock market, and kill what credibility the US has thrived on since WW2. Can't help but feel Putin has a finger in this cause a weak US makes Russia look stronger.

  • Not sure what to tell you, live near the IA border and people to south to get cheep cigarettes and people come north to get weed products. Only complaints people have is the half hour drive of corn fields.

  • We have more snow and northern, humid heat. Summer average is 80s but peaks over 100 few times a year. So humid you can shower on Monday and still be wet behind the ears come Tuesday. And the mosquito is the state bird.

  • This entire post reads "I don't know how to camp/go backpacking.

Get yourself a travel air mattress or sleeping pad, probably a better sleeping bag. Solves the lack of sleep and sore back.

Get a proper tent that's water proof and learn how to set it up properly so water doesn't pool under it. Make sure the vents have good mosquito netting to keep bugs our, and never have the entry unzipped a second longer than it takes to get in and out of.

For the mice, don't have food in unsealed containers and if you're in bear country you should be hanging a bear bag at least 100 feet (30m~ ) from you campsite, make sure cook wear and utensils are all properly cleaned too. Some newer tents even have a pouch built in near the door to seal a bag into, minimizing the chance of something deciding to make it a new home.

  • Terminator Genisys

First creative use of the time travel the series ever had... And totally botched about every other aspect of the movie that wasn't an action sequence.

That whole 30 second idea of a Terminator in the 70s with a young Sarah Connor was far more interesting than what the movie did with Kyle Reese.

  • The comment you replying to was trying to not so subtly point out this is a business plot and little else. Nobody is going to pay a subscription fee to have a tree in front of their business, but they might cough up money for a third party to maintain a tank of algae out front if it was sold right

  • GOP politics and agenda are all about control. And religion historically has always been a means of control. Add a more aggressive form of indoctrination instead of education in schools so that you have young people just smart enough to profitable but brainwashed into not being free thinkers who go tribal against anyone against their tribe. Once you have people replacing morality with religion you can alter that religion to match what ever you want as a means of control.

  • Operating in China and having 10% of your company publicly owned by an entity of the Chinese government are two different things, and EGS has reportedly been all to happy to give over any and all information they have on identified users to the CCP. One article in 2019 suggesting that Hong Kong activists were being targeted by data in part provided through such means.

  • None of these are why people hate epic games or like gog/steam.

EG is toxicily anticonsumer. Their platform is assbackwards with no good functional community features. They bombard users with ads for games they already own. They spyware they call a store front has repeatedly been caught snooping through user files without consent and sending unknown amounts of data back to their server without permission to gather that data in the first place.

And the cherry on top is their close relationship with tencent, aka one facet of the propaganda arm of the CCP.

  • Don't have all the details myself but important to remember actors are paid for more than what they do on set. There is still plenty of prep work as well as promotional material and rights for using their image for advertising and merchandising. Even if his screen time was drastically reduced there probably was still plenty of demands for media appearances and other obligations in the contract that would consume as much if not more time and energy (which equally restricts or prevents the actor from seeking other competitive jobs while dedicated to one long term project.)

So while there may have been to grounds to reduce the offer of pay somewhat, cutting by over half while still largely expecting the same work role even when considering reduced screen time possibilities, it's entirely justified for the actor to refuse the role.

  • Cognitive dissonance is a very real thing. I think it's a defense mechanism since these people need to believe the group who reflects their beliefs and values must but the best option, bending their (perception of) reality to their opinions rather than the other way around.

Don't know these people could live with themselves if they suddenly realized the people they support have no interest in solving their problems and just using them.
