  • Born on Europe on 1985. We never had a ban on phones (later "feature phones"). We couldn't use them in class, same as the game boy, a comic or a Walkman.

Now schools force Chromebooks/ewaste with laughable restrictions.

  • Another great example of how to rationalize "this part in taking literally and this ones I don't". You can also say there was a lot of editorializing, that a lot came from secondary sources...

The Wikipedia analog doesn't hold any water. For staters, the Wikipedia doesn't say the mad hatter existed. If the Wikipedia started editorializing history extremely in favor or against trump, that would indeed make me question the validity of articles regarding trump.

  • To be honest, it was a very paralell process. I could do a fraction of the compute, needing a fraction of the RAM, but taking a shit ton more time.

Also, theres no perfect machine for this use. I can have 3.5 times more RAM than needed, or start swapping and waste time.

  • Never personally meet one that did. I'm sure there are, but the only time somebody rejected evolution on the grounds of religion was a Muslim, and a zealot.

I'm not judging all Muslims because of him, neither all Christians because the worse of them.

  • Only for those who take literal meaning and instruction from the Bible. Honestly, nobody who follows any holy book to the letter is fit to live in a society. They can't change their believes and they don't have you change themselves. More power to them really

  • The "first world" was defined as US and their allies, 2nd world as USSR and their allies and 3rd world as no aligned. Now, US is run by Russian assets trying to replicate the third Reich. So I guess it should be second world instead?

  • So, in order to subscribe to those communities I should create another account in a different instance that either has them or is federated with them, right….? Any workaround for that? This sounds like it’s going to be a real chore to follow and will push a lot of people out of lemmy in general
