  • No. It made it so that dideloaded apps don't have as many permissions enabled by default, which seems like a better behavior to me. In any case I'm sure if the devs wanted to change that, they could on their custom roms

  • It does... We have had laws regarding safety in chargers and cables waaaaaaay before USB c existed.

That doesn't prevent Amazon from selling shit because Amazon doesn't care. And they were selling shit hdmi, shit rj45 and shit lightning for years.

  • There's no original legislation, there's a specification. And the specification does have "quality" requirements. That some brands do not follow them while announcing them is illegal (to say the least, they are using the branding without permission).

Cheap knockoff usually don't follow the law...

  • stores are flooded with subpar cables, adapters and hubs that don't even adhere to the most basic standards.

This has been the truth before USB-C and applies to all categories (HDMI is one of the most outrageous).

I'm not even sure what the solution is. Million connectors, one for each feature set? Even then you will find 240W rated cables on Amazon that melt with 100W.

  • Those are 90% of the ones available, 95% of the small factor ones and 99% of the affordable ones. One of the main reasons for them to be non detachable is because most users would pick any random USB cable and complain it doesn't push 4K while charging the laptop.

Source: I've made the percentages up, but it's very close to that range.

Actually if somebody knows one that's good, small, affordable and detachable I'll be happy to know.

  • I meant using a linux VM to run docker (With Rancher Desktop).

WSL started eating RAM like if there's was no tomorrow for no reason, even when idle. And considering we had to run memory and cpu intensive tasks, that was a big problem. Several colleges saw the same issue and we all ended up moving to Mac for that reason (well, some of them just because "shiny").

  • I got a Mac at work because the Linux on Mac didn't suck as much as the Linux on windows (docker).

My 8 years old mid range PC beats both to dust on development using the Linux on Linux, but somehow the bosses don't value my time.
