  • Actually, I don't think this is a fitting meme.

This isn't a rent-seeking, wallet rape bullshit "subscription" (like BMW heated seats), it's a legitimate subscription service where they just order and ship a product automatically for you on a regular schedule (like Amazon) and give you a discount. Also, you're not forced to purchase a subscription, you can just buy retail cartridges if you prefer.

This actually makes a lot of sense for people who print regularly and frequently.

Edit: it has been pointed out to me that there is, in fact, some tomfuckery involved with this subscription model

  • Eh... it's pretty, I guess, but it's just too "appified" for power users. My Thunderbird UI is festooned with useful buttons and menus for quick access, and I like the old style of having elements tightly spaced to maximize contextual awareness.

This reeks of form over function. Yuck.

  • Apparently this only works with Android 11+ because of a permissions issue or something, and my devices are too old. Most or all of the apps have been open sourced on github, why don't they just patch the code and repackage the APKs?

  • For its own sake, no. Unless I happen to be doing something I intrinsically enjoy that happens to give me exercise, I hate it every time. I need some really motivating tunes otherwise, and they wear out fast after a few listens.
