Only thing I can say is that Carmack’s Wikipedia article reads like he wrote it himself before a job interview…
Not only does high intensity allow him to make progress more quickly, but long hours are also critical to maintaining a focused mindset over time. Despite working such a demanding schedule, he has never experienced burnout.
What device are you intending to use, you mention you’re using macos so I’m guessing Apple hardware?
Just thought I’d share my experience with pop on my MacBook in case we can help each other 😂. Basically I was dead set on pop but couldn’t get it to install for the life of me - the installer showed my disk as being a fraction of the size it was, even exfat volumes created by the installer. So I had to shrink other os petitions like crazy so I could trick it into thinking there was enough space.
There was no option to encrypt the disk in the installer and it didn’t play nice when I created my own LUKS container.
After several hours of trying to beat it into submission I ended up using Ubuntu’s legacy installer and was up and running in 15 mins.
So yeah if you are using Apple hardware and get pop playing nice please share any tips :)
Also thought telltale were dead - but looks like they’ve got The Wolf Among Us 2 coming in 2024!
This game reminds me of The Dark Pictures Anthology: Directive 8020 which I’m very much looking forward to as well. Really liked the “movie night” mode - perhaps something telltale could learn from?
Volume discount: Amazon will buy a hell of a lot more books than a single mom and pop store
Retail rule of thirds: (very loosely) a third of the price you it goes to manufacturing, a third to distribution/logistics, and a third to the retailer. Amazon vertically integrates the second two.
Online only: website capacity costs a lot less than running a brick and mortar store
Margin: amazon will make less per book but sells more books because people prefer to buy them cheaper. There’s a separate discussion here about anti competitive practices (eg undercutting competition to put them out of business, then raising prices later) but that is a whole other debate
Anyone with an older model know if there’s been a way to add wireless (qi) charging?
