  • it's the middle of the night and the house is silent. You finish your business and in your sleepiness know that you have to put the seat and lid down because you don't want all that bacteria on your toothbrush, your towel, your clothes. So you turn around grab the lid and

    #SLAM

    you whisper "fuck"

your baby is crying and your wife is awake. You're not going back to sleep

  • They're literally not approved by state ordinances anymore. And the previous 30 years of owners just completely neglected it. The soil erosion is so bad and it's a shame because we can see the remnants of what used to be a beautiful backyard.

We thought the fix would be closer to 50k when we bought it, which would have been mostly paid for by our previous house sale. But here we are with an entire house worth of repairs in our lap...

  • If anything, letting people like her have sanctuary in the US would help, but the Republicans don't want that.

You just pointed out another reason why her using this story to score political points is so disgusting. These are the people whom the asylum program is supposed to help, and the Republicans actively work against helping.

If there's a hell, she's going to it. She deserves it.

  • It's pretty freeing to realize that most people have no idea what's going on and that includes who you may perceive is at a high level. (Almost) Everyone has to report to someone and once you get past three levels from the top, it's like playing a game of telephone where the people at the top start with gibberish in the first place.

Do your best, learn every day (or don't), and don't be so hard on yourself. Nobody has any idea what's going on.

  • Lol, my wife and I are having to deal with a retaining wall built in the 70s and left to rot. It was a cheap-ass railroad tie and wood retaining wall and if it's not fixed, our house will slide off a hill.

$170k to fix... When I said lol earlier, I meant I want to cry.

  • That's advice on what to do, rather than who you are. I agree that it's great to choose a career path that allows for financial security, but you can do that and decide that you're an artist. They don't have to be exclusive of each other.

  • Who's the moron that bought Yahoo for that much? Anybody using yahoo mail is going to be dead or not need email in 10 years and yahoo answers doesn't exist anymore.

So what value could that company possibly have?

  • Not to defend Boeing in anything at all, but it's news stories like these that are making it seem worse than it is. They use Boeing's name because they've already been in the news a bunch and it drives clicks.

When something happens unrelated to Boeing, news stories need to stop including them in headlines as clickbait

  • I work 9 hours a day either sitting at my desk doing nothing or sitting in meetings doing nothing. My only reprieve is that it pays decently well for the area I live in.

My time at my job could be cut in half and I'd still get just as much work done as before. So much of my life and and everyone else's lives are being wasted doing such meaningless work.

  • Of course the Republicans are this disgusting.

A complete lie about the time and location of a horrific atrocity just to rail against Biden is about as despicable as it gets. This poor woman is being used as a political pawn and is about to get dragged through the media shit storm just because the Republicans don't have any sense of decency and empathy.

This whole thing should make everyone angry, but the only people who are going to read a story about this lie are not the people who need it.
