I think we're really gets me is that they're trying to play both sides right? They're willing to have priests bless gay marriages but that's as far as it'll go. They stand up for human rights... until it comes to abortion, surrogacy, and bodily autonomy.
They're just hell-bent on being on the wrong side of history.
What I've observed is that inside the Catholic Church it's seen as something quite similar to American politics where you have the left and the right and they're both pushing separate agendas within the organization and it truly is just as political and it truly is just as divided but the problem is what they're doing here is making a statement that represents the entire organization and that statement is gut-wrenchingly bigoted.
After a certain point regardless of where you stand if an organizations doctrine is in disagreement with your own values You've got to just leave and the problem is a lot of the progressives just won't leave Catholicism.
Hopefully this statement changes that and they see a mass exodus. Pun intended.
Avatar. The tall Smurf one, not the blue arrow tattoo one.
Given the other comment ITT about constantine, I suppose I love it for similar reasons, thematically.
Someone at odds with society finally meets kindred spirits and is freed from society entirely, finally able to live the life she always deserved, bonding with her new family in a way others could only imagine.
We're excited for our second year of planting. Our sprouts are sprouting! I'd share a photo, but my client isn't working 😞.
Says the image is invalid.
Anyway, we have a bunch of little baby sprouts coming in on our little sprout tray from the hardware store. We're also looking forward to planting some grass after this week's snowstorm... In April. We're in mud season and we're approaching 3rd winter I guess.
Not sure how many of them would try that. Most average people don't know how to use their phone, only how to use the services made for them. Or at least that's how I see it nowadays.
They're one YouTube video away from VPN and APKPure.
Google can remotely remove and install apps, even without user notice.
TIL. Time to think a little harder about de-googling.
I don't know, banning it from the app store would definitely reduce the number of users but if the app is already on the device it's not going anywhere. Plus it's a free app so at least with Android it's easy enough to side load it or get it from a website like APKPure or somewhere else. All you got to do is change a little setting and allow the installation of apps from unknown sources in your browser. This would have the effect of introducing whole new vectors for infection and compromise.
On the flip side I do see it as a legitimate national security threat so really it's a no-win situation.
I agree with you. I am afraid that there's no way to really ban it. All you need is a VPN to bypass whatever they come up with. What concerns me is that this just makes it security theater and puts on display the government's ineptitude with technology.
This leaves me with the assumption that there is an ulterior motive that since this still sets precedent that though ineffective, they can misuse the precedent for nefarious ends.
Just look at how China restricts it's internet. Could that become us?
I do have anxiety about any limiting of free speech as well. That aspect of this situation is also concerning.
Maybe I'm too much of a goof but I haven't noticed any ads and I haven't found any way to turn them off either. Is this only in the desktop version or is it also in the mobile version? Normally I just use the mobile version.
Unfortunately that time has long passed. Have you ever heard of plenary indulgences?
