To think of it, "Cyanide Ice Cream and Cum Soup" would fit really well right next to "Needle Up My Cock" and "Expose Yourself to Kids".

"Cyanide Ice Cream and Cum Soup" sounds like an album title for a GWAR-style shock rock band.

As I previously told, I decided to RMA my netbook server's SSD and send it to Denmark for repair. In the meantime, I put the server's original HDD back, installed Ubuntu Server and now it runs several other things, except for NextCloud. It clearly looks like the laptop's SATA port isn't at fault, as the laptop's been running for over a week with no interruptions and errors whatsoever.

Exactly. It's ridiculous how UE5 has tools like Nanite that should free developers from previously time-consuming chores such as creating LOD meshes and provide great performance at the same time. Instead it leads to performance problems and the developers may not optimize their games properly. The resulting game needs to render at a lower base resolution like fucking 720p and upscale from that using AI, add some bad anti-aliasing and the overall image quality is blurry. This has to be done, as otherwise the game's performance will barely reach stable 30 FPS, even on new GPUs with all the bells and whistles. Oh, and if the game can't reach 60 FPS? No worry, there's AI frame generation! We were supposed to live in times of realistic graphics with great performance, but all we get is tools to circumvent bad performance and image quality resulting from bad optimization.

There are no recommendation algorithms for content, you are one! Search for communities based on your interests and subscribe to them. The Communities view of your home instance and Lemmy Explorer are good for that. Because Lemmy is decentralized, all discussion isn't centered around one site like on Reddit, which may at first give an impression of emptiness.

On se kyllä: Karpo kritisoi kovasti Suomen terveydenhuoltoa ja sairaalan pääsyn ruljanssia. Hän sairastuu vakavasti. Ja oho hups, hän kuolee. Tuntuu kuin hän paljasti viimeistä kertaa yhden suomalaisen yhteiskunnan epäkohdan. Pitää kyllä katsoa muutama jakso Karpolla on asiaa -ohjelmaa ennen nukkumaanmenoa. The problems I described eventually happened again after 3 days or so. I got pissed, so I decided to RMA the drive and ship it to Denmark where the store I bought it from has its HQ. As a temporary solution I formatted the laptop's original HDD, put it back and installed Ubuntu Server. A bit of setting up and now things work. In the meantime I won't be running NextCloud though, as the drive's only 250 GB.

I even ran MemTest86 and it showed things to be all fine. I recently bought new memory (2 GB) for the netbook.

Last week I released the blog post I mentioned previously. It's now in Finnish and English.

I have an old netbook from 2011 that I have used as my home server since 2017. It has a 1 TB SSD, and for some time it had weird problems such as "Remounting filesystem read-only" and "EXT4-fs error", usually leading to crashes. After rebooting, Ubuntu's boot screen would not always appear. According to SMART, the drive was however all fine. At first I replaced the file system's journal and ran fsck. That wasn't enough, and the problems persisted. I was about to RMA the SSD, when I put Gparted Live on an USB stick and used that for fixing the file system. And it worked, now the home server has worked all fine for over three days!
