  • If you really need the speed, sure, go ahead, but I suspect you won't actually get that speed unless on very large sequential files.

  • Sorry, I am unaware of a cross-system full disk encryption solution.

  • If you want backups done right, use BorgBackup. You can use Vorta as a GUI for Borg.

  • Finally, my life is complete. We have achieved feature parity with Windows.

Seriously, the BSOD QR-code is a great way to have a more inclusive system. Hardened geeks can still sift through the boot log to find problems and newbies can just get help online. Win-win.

  • I use Tidal and it shares the same problem, especially if you are using it in drive mode in your car (Android Auto). I guess they do it to minimize data transmission costs by buffering your favorite songs on your device, but it annoys the hell out of me.

Also, Tidal has a Hip-hop/Rap bias that I was unable to remove after some 2 years of using it. I don't have a single song from those genres in my favorites or playlists, but it will suggest them all the same. I will block the artists and they will pop up on the new releases page.

Regarding music quality it is miles ahead of Spotify. I don't know if Spotify has finally released an hi-fi/lossless tier, but at the time Tidal was unmatched. After listening to Tidal hi-fi I could not go back to Spotify's mungled up audio.

  • I don't know the reason, but I'm intrigued: why Veracrypt and NTFS instead of something like LUKS and EXT4?

  • You can have separate disks attached to your Steam installation. You don't need RAID at all for that.

  • Awesome, also read the book if you can.

  • Sorry, English is not my native tongue. Thank you for the tip.

  • Diversity generates competition that drives innovation. Also, people mostly work on what they like and use what they like. Although it certainly spreads resources on duplicate projects, you can't force people to work or use your personal favourite. You'll get used to it.

  • I sometimes earth myself by touching a wall before touching my laptop, because that's where I get most static electricity shocks.

  • Xfce is rock solid.

  • +1 for Peppermint. I installed it on a thumb drive and always carry it with me while travelling. This way I can boot it on the company laptop to safely steam video and browse social media while not touching the (encrypted) company disk.

  • I disagree with you. They have many brilliant songs, but this is the only one radios play.

  • They are now affordable enough and give you back a nice amount of time you would otherwise spend cleaning.

  • Most Linux distributions are quite reliable, even rolling ones. What usually causes instability are the closed source applications people choose to run on them.

I'm not just pointing out nVidia drivers, I've seen Teams and Visual Studio Code crash an otherwise stable Ubuntu LTS.

  • Good quality kitchen knives. Makes cooking a much better experience.
