  • From the official OIG website:

HHS-OIG has authority under 1128(a) of the Social Security Act to exclude from participation in Medicare, Medicaid and other Federal health care programs individuals who have been convicted of certain crimes, including criminal offenses related to health care fraud. An exclusion is an administrative sanction that protects Federal health care programs and the people they serve by prohibiting payment for any health care item or service furnished, ordered, or prescribed by an excluded person.

I could see it argued both ways. It looks like this is meant to prohibit her from working with or receiving payment from any group in this sector.

From the wording it's difficult to tell if this means she also won't be able to be reimbursed for her own personal healthcare costs by any of these programs.

And if anyone really wants to get into the legalese: https://www.ssa.gov/OP_Home/ssact/title11/1128.htm

  • I agree with that, but this just doesn't scream "Technology" worthy news to me.

But I think I'm just at the point where I need to find another community that's a bit more focused on new up and coming technology rather than the latest drama about something that uses technology.

  • I feel like this post belongs under c/gaming rather than c/technology....

  • It's only 2 hours later and that one is now gone as well.

  • Not only that, your upvotes and downvotes are completely public.

You might not see them through the lens of a Lemmy frontend, but using kbin you can see it.

It's something I wish I knew before I joined, but it is what it is and I'm getting used to it.

Anyway, take care, and feel free to check-in every year or so to see if the user base has expanded to levels where its a better community. That or check out a different instance of Lemmy where there might be a community that better fits what you're looking for.

  • I've been using Ground News. It's interesting to get breakdowns on which way stories are being spun by each side.

  • Hard to tell at a glance.

The telnet vulnerability allows it to infect some older IoT devices (such as CCTV cameras) or if you are using an older router where telnet is enabled (or may be enabled by default). Most modern devices don't use that method anymore due to security concerns.

The SSH vulnerability can affect a lot more devices. So if you have a Raspberry Pi on your network with a default account/password or a weak password then it can infect that and spread to other devices on your local network. Or maybe a cheap IoT device that has weak security... same problem.

A concern for you is if you have some other device on your network that was vulnerable, because then that device can serve as a point for the worm to jump to your other devices (if they also use default passwords or weak passwords).

Another big question to ask is whether you have UPnP enabled on your router.

Either way I would make sure that you have strong passwords, change the default username, etc, on all of your devices.

  • Hmmm I'm not seeing any performance issues with Voyager on that post.

  • I mean... he had already walked away from the mic by the time the question started and by the time the question was finished he was out of sight as the reporter reached the word "violence".

This is just a click bait article capitalizing on Trump for clicks.

  • For those curious, the apps that sold your specific geolocation data were "Drunk Mode" and "Walk Against Humanity".

Edit: Although Wikipedia notes that X-Mode's SDK is in use in more than 400 apps. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-Mode_social#cite_note-13

This is a big win for privacy advocates as well:

"By securing a first-ever ban on the use and sale of sensitive location data, the FTC is continuing its critical work to protect Americans from intrusive data brokers and unchecked corporate surveillance,” said Khan.

  • I've been running into this more and more recently and it can be frustrating.

Usually I'm looking for some specific piece of info that I received in response to a comment I made, or something I commented on. However if the post was removed for whatever reason I can only view my comment, but no context.

So it seems like the comment itself is still there, so I'm assuming other comments are still there, just only visible for the users that made them. It would be great if this was changed as OP is requesting.

  • They should make it hybrid electric, but make it so that each motor can act independently if needed.

If one system fails, the other system can carry them on until they can get repairs.

Minor collision cracked the radiator? No problem. Just use elctric until it gets fixed.

Even if the engine is sent to fight forest fires and embers burn through the air filter of the ICE, the electric motors can still drive each wheel. Or if battery gives out for whatever reason, they can run on just the ICE.

  • Yes, there are NAS grade SSD's that can be used.

  • As long as you use the right kind of SSD, there aren't any problems with doing this.

  • That's pretty messed up if there isn't a valid way to disclose it on the official paperwork.

One of the legitimate reasons I can see for this law would be cases where someone changed their name to be similar, or the same, as someone else who is much more likely to win.

So if someone changed their name to Joe Biden recently, I would absolutely want it disclosed that they had done so.

  • The only one that's been amazing (that I can think of) so far was the class action settled against Toyota for a few years worth of the Prius.

They now have to cover the inverter under warranty for 20 years from the date that the car was first used. If your car fails because of the inverter they also pay for the tow, the car rental, and all of the repairs.

  • I've heard that, with AR, Microsoft HoloLens is very useful when you can bring in the blueprints for the house you're standing in.

You get a sort of super x-ray vision of what should be where in the walls.
