  • The easiest solution is to use a nested compositor, Sway, Weston, Cage all work fine. Weston might be available in your repos already.

simply launch weston, then launch waydroid and it should work

  • What were pain points for you?

The apps for sure, Navigation was fine a bit buggy but somewhat usable, but apps were janky at best, the YT thing just felt like a crappy gimmick

I think a better launcher would help a lot, I've seen quite a few promissing ones, and even forked one with the intent on making it a better TV launcher experience when I find the time.

the main thing missing then would be a full screen compositor and an app switcher, I actually have a couple ideas i've been playing with, apps support hurts, but I plan on making a custom waydroid launcher eventually too

  • it's very much not any good at all

  • With Bliss you can fairly accurately replicate the smart tv experience, Google play store is a bit if an issue atm, but hopefully that will be resolved soon. sadly one if the biggest issues is opengapps. is fairly slow, so when major updates happen you are stuck for a while

  • wait really? that's pretty neat, any idea what it was called?

    EDIT: ah was it winepak?

  • I literally threw a ThinkPad at a brick wall in rage a long time ago and it was fine a t-42 iirc. reccomended them ever since

  • for anyone trying on a similar setup, Feel free to reach out on the bliss and waydroid matrix/telegram channels if you would like some more help. Blue archive JP seems to work fine under waydroid as a couple users report. and as for bliss, ping me (@Quackdoctech) in the telegram chat and we can work on trying to get nvidia to work. it seems hit or miss and we really need more nvidia users to help debug issues.

as for waydroid issues, It might be best to wait to see if the work on A13 will remedy the situation, but we shall see.

PS. I am the one who wrote qemu docs for bliss. also I highly recommend using the new bliss images, the Android 12L ones. not sure if OP is author, but if not feel free to try and forward it to them

  • Great guide, It's worth noting that you can also use SOFA filters too! HRTF is a very "Per-person" thing, Before downloading a filter, Highly reccomended to play the demo tracks first (may need to scroll right). IF none of them really do it for you, you can also try using SOFA filters instead, clubfritz is a very common sofa filter. though sadly I dont think there is a way to preview them before setting up a filter then swapping out the names

  • I do have dracuriot so I will be able to test that again then, by chance are you running the games from bottles internal system bottles' "Program files", I run all my games from that

  • I'll see if I can give it a try later tonight, since there may have been a regression since I last played anything. do you have any specific VNs you had issues with aside from sonohana? I played through the rance series using bottles up to magnum quest.

I try again, but I get the same error. At this point, I figure Sono Hana is probably a tricky game so I try H2O now, which I know works in normal Wine, Lutris, and even CrossOver, but I get this:

  • you haven't been able to get bottles working for VNs? I'm willing to help out in this case, it's how I predominately played most of my VNs
