  • Crystal is very similar to Ruby, but is compiled to native code instead. Would you consider that? Why or why not?

  • Fira Code was my font of choice for a while, but now I use JetBrains Mono! Cascadia Code is also acceptable.

  • Keychron Q6 (ISO, no knob)
Gateron Oil Kings Some unbranded BoB keycaps (Cherry profile)

I didn't intend my board to be 100% black plastic but that's how it turned out, and it's not bad!

  • Alternate title: Apple charges fortune for underspecced machines, morons still buy them

Please tell me, as someone who has not given Apple money in over a decade, how I am paying for this.

  • I'd give it a try, but I can't see anything before being asked to sign up.

Websites that do that just leave a bad taste in my mouth, asking for your information before they've even shown you what you'll get for doing so.

  • It's a stretch, but the only thing I can think of is that it might be a bit better for dyslexic people because the letters are a bit more diverse, but I don't think it's nearly enough to be considered an actual dyslexia font.

  • Neon and Argon: Seem okay. They're really quite similar though. It's like the designers couldn't decide which they liked more and so just decided to release both.

Xenon: It feels alright. The horizontal serifs give everything a more uniform look, but you can also get that with any other serif font.

Radon: Uh, no thanks. It's like someone took the weird letters from Dank Mono and said "what if we did that but for the whole font?"

Krypton: What if we just took OCR A and added ligatures? Alternatively, "Floating Point Precision Error: The Font"

Overall, none of these are compelling enough to make me want to try them. I quite like the Texture Healing feature, but it's not enough to make me want to move to it.

Also, using multiple different fonts in one code file sounds horrendous.

  • It's likely hosted in China, so I'm not surprised.

  • I haven't woken up properly and so I initially thought the words were Dutch 💀

  • Exactly. It goes the same way in development too. People who say XYZ lang is better than Rust because "you get so many compile errors" suffer from the same misconception: Just because the errors aren't immediately obvious doesn't mean they aren't there.

  • I really want to like Podman Compose but since the very beginning it's been noticeably tougher to work with than Docker Compose. I get that it's because it's just an extra script rather than a first party tool, but still.

  • Sundar wants them feet pics

  • The Sony Xperia IV series came out late 2022 and that still has a notification LED and a 3.5mm jack. The newer Xperia V series removed the LED but still has the jack.

  • mouse cursor customization app

There's your problem. You can install and use cursors directly in your OS settings, much like fonts. There's no need for a separate application to manage them.

  • If you wish to speak freely then do so. Don't censor yourself. Say what you want to say either with vulgarity or without. Don't pussyfoot around it by removing letters. Have some self-respect and either commit to saying it or rephrase.

  • There's an argument to be made here that you shouldn't be using vulgar language when you know it'll be flagged. Just rephrase what you were saying. And if you feel you need to be vulgar in a place where it's not welcomed, it's probably not worth saying anyway.

  • I was more referring to how changing aspect ratios is a bad idea, not that using AI to do it would be a bad idea.

  • I remember watching a great video about why this isn't a good idea.

    Here it is.

  • Can you be more specific?

I may be reading this wrong, but it sounds like you think Linux requires all your files to be converted to some other format before you can use them. There is no such thing as a Windows-JPEG and a Linux-JPEG, it's just a JPEG. All your files will still work. It's the software that opens the files that might need to change (e.g. MS Word or Photoshop).

Unless you're talking about filesystems like NTFS and ext4, in which case there is no argument to be made as Linux supports NTFS already. In my experience, it "just works".

  • In a democratic government you have the right to protest. Less-so here. At the end of the day the mods have the final say. They could, at any point, dictate extra rules to us and enforce them with bans. We would have no choice but to obey or leave. That's their choice because they own the community here.

It's harder to leave a country than it is to leave a Lemmy community. That's why protests won't work here. If you disagree with the result of the poll, and by extension the way this community is run, you can always leave with a single click.

Side note: Morality is inherently subjective. Many middle-eastern countries consider women showing off their bodies to be immoral, but in the west it is accepted. Both cultures generally consider their way to be correct.
