  • I'd like to caution against percieving the grass as being greener.

The US is being a shitbird, but do not let that cloud criticism of other countries- their governments are (usually) rarely better.

And nobody treats turncoats particularly well, especially if they don't offer concrete and immediate value beyond 'hostage'.

Far better to agitate where you're at- help your neighbors where and how you can and demonstrate how they're being lied to.

  • ... Musk as a “dipshit” and a “South African nepo baby.”

I get the move of playing up the "otherness" of Musk to try and destabilize his support, and it may even be the right move for building support in xenophobic areas.

But it doesn't sit well with me. It reinforces a "good immigrant/bad immigrant" view that harms us all, immigrants or native-born.

  • So, let's get this straight.

Protestors make noise and cause a ruckus to draw attention to any number of social issues they feel need addressed. If they're successful, laws/perceptions change to more closely reflect their ideal.

Professional protestors are those that get paid to do that.

Ergo, politicians are the "paid protestors", and the people you are avoiding are just garden-variety protestors.

  • I support the action and thoughts, but doesn't this play into the jingoism already on display and abate any further cultural interaction?

I want there to be a way to hurt the administration while opening the eyes of the decieved population.
