And at least the average Lemmy user isn't a complete fucking idiot.
I remember the early days of reddit, when we would make fun of the kids over at /r/SummerReddit every June. But then those kids grew up, took over the website, and now /r/SummerReddit is all of reddit.
I want radiolemmy@lemmy.radio but that instance is more for terrestrial amateur radio so I don't think my application will be approved. I'll probably just pick a major instance to minimize the chances that this happens again.
Jokes aside, it is going to be an internet radio station run by Lemmy users. We will have live DJs, scheduled programming blocks, and all music will be picked by the community.
This actually a relaunch. I originally launched the station back in 2023 but it barely lasted two months because I couldn't get enough content nor enough DJs to fill the schedule.
This time around I'm not launching the station until I have enough content to actually function like a proper radio station. I'm shooting for Q3 2025 because I feel like that is a wide enough window to get enough volunteers before we hit the airwaves. It all depends on you.
So if you want to contribute a block of programming, or even just give me a list of your favorite tunes, please read this first, and then PM we what you've got.
Dammit, I literally just re-opened !radiolemmy@lemm.ee this week. What unfortunate timing.
To any of my subscribers reading this: I'm currently in the process of finding a new instance. I'll update this comment when I establish a new home for Radio Lemmy. Stay tuned...
(e:Lemm.ee was also my first account after I left reddit. As silly as it is, I'm going to miss it. I have another account on a different instance but it's not nearly as old...)
Ha! FWIW I didn't find out what it did until well into adulthood, long after my parents got rid of that PC.
As kids, my siblings and I would push it for fun, having no idea what it did (other than make the number on the 7 segment display change). Never even noticed a difference but then again I was 6 when we got that computer.
Maybe; did Packard Bell produce upright PC cases in the early 90s? I thought they only did horizontal cases but I was like 6 back then so I'm just going by what my mom said to me.
I went to one of these for the latest Indiana Jones film and immediately regretted it. The seats move way too much, and often during scenes when it doesn't make sense for them to be moving. I'm talking several feet of movement; the fuckers should have seat belts.
Also for some reason there was a strobe light to the left of the screen and it kept randomly going off for some reason. Never figured out what that was about...
The secret is to smoke weed every day. Once you've built up a sizable tolerance, the only time you'll get hungry is when you have cannabis in your system. Trust me, it works.
Seriously, I do not have faith in USD anymore. What's left of my paycheck after bills all goes to BTC, and I sell what I need on demand to cover day to day costs. Been doing this since 2019 and it has paid off handsomely.
