I believe the impetus is on the bigot to figure their shit out. It is exhausting arguing with bigots, and it is not people's job to teach them how not to be a bigot. There is enough information out there now that you should know not to be an intolerant asshole, and if someone chooses instead to be a piece of shit, I'm comfortable with them being ostracized while they sort themselves out. And if they can't, I'm comfortable with them dying old, alone and confused wondering why nobody visits them.

I've been waiting for a game that will be worth it, that I can only play on a new console, and so far I haven't seen one. I'm closer to upgrading my graphics card than getting a new console at this point.

I mean, for a long time the Series S was all I saw in stores.

I still have to read those. The first 3 books had such a satisfying arc and conclusion, that I wanted to step away before continuing.

Yeah, that's my problem with Lemmy right now, I don't see the discussions I am used to finding on Reddit.

For example- the new balance datasheet for Warhammer 40K came out, and I wanted to see what the changes actually were and what they meant for my faction (Leagues of Votann), but that conversation wasn't happening. I could start it myself, but I am ignorant - I still don't know enough about Warhammer to understand the effects of the changes. I checked the Leagues of Votann discord, but couldn't find any reasonable conversations. I tried going back to when the datasheet was released to follow the conversation, but it was hard to follow, and the app kept resetting me to the newest statements. I had to go back to reddit to see what people were saying.

One of my favorites! Yeah, I almost bounced off discworld the first time, but I'm glad I stuck with it. I'll probably use the audiobooks for my next read through! Either that or physical books. My wife just gave birth, so physical books will let me read them to my son.

I'm reading Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin on recommendation by a colleague, Feet of Clay by Terry Pratchett in my second run through of the Discworld series, and Death Troopers by Joe Schreiber, since I never got around to that one when I was DEEP into Star Wars books.

The first two Discworld books are VERY different from the rest of the series. There is definitely stuff to enjoy there, but Pratchett had not yet found his voice. I'm in my second read through of the series, and it is interesting to see the concepts mature over time. Granny Weatherwax in Equal Rites is almost a different character than Granny Weatherwax in Maskerade.

It was a revelation when I found out he wrote "the egg". That was my favorite internet story. He's my favorite living author (RIP Adams and Pratchett)

Yeah, I understand that it isn't a walkable city. But the inside shows why we should work towards walkable cities.

Someone once told me that malls are appealing because they match what we want out of a walkable city, and I haven't been able to get that out of my mind.

Overconfident can be a lot of fun to play, especially when paired with a flaw, like mispronouncing, using words wrong or making words up. Like Dr. Teeth from the Muppets, for example.

Each book is under $10 unless they are hardcovers, so $20 should be fine. Probably $30-35 if they like hardcovers.
