  • It's the protocol vs the app. The protocol is universal and does not make any distinction between the services. It's rather the app interface that only lets you sign in with an account form one of their platforms. We really need a SSO solution like ActivityPods or something.

  • If that's so I'd recommend looking into particl.io. they actually have a mission to provide a secure, decentralized and anonymous market and trade ecosystem.

  • Wow, that's quite an elaborate opinion you've shat out of yourself!

  • Does not have to be like that. Crypto can be used on the one hand and for creadit cards it would be an alternative to liberapay or ko-fi.

  • I used tunemymusic. I think up to 500 songs it's free but the premium is only 2$/month. Also you will need to buy tidal hifi for one month which is very expensive. To download the tracks I used tidal-dl.

I have to admit that this is not the cheapest way to obtain music but it is probably the only way to download exactly the tracks you want from various different albums and artists in high-res audio quality.

  • Init7 rocks. Besides the 333 CHF initial setup fee all plans cost the same. 777 for 1/10/25Gbit/s.

  • I have a residential 25Gbit/s connection and although I only use 15 gbit of it for my server it is really a godsend for torrenting, hosting and running several relays and nodes for different networks.

  • I switched to tidal hifi for a month and downloaded all songs in highest flac audio quality with lyrics and all. In total about over 1000 songs.

  • Well this hasn't happened to me yet. The lack of real time traffic warnings is a bit annoying tho.

  • Also with tidal-dl I can download all of my songs in high res flac quality with lyrics and everything. So I make regular backup all few months.

  • I have tried so many things and Rnote is the best of all of them. It is a well maintained project and the only one with an infinite canvas. It has a modern GTK4 UI but it may still be a bit rough around the edges especially the text input function.

  • Dude what are you talking about? Have I ever mentioned that I want to convince anyone? Stop hallucinating things.

  • Exactly thats what I think too. I was talkkng about the network itself while he was talking about single instances. But thats the difference to a distributed system where you have ni central servers at all. Still on the network level both federated and distributed systems are decentralized.

  • Dude you can literally count the number of independent instances. How can you assume that the network isn't decentralized? A network where the data is distributed over the user nodes is called a distributed system for a reason. Decentralization does not mean that one part of the network can't go down but the network itself will survive it.

  • That's simply not true. On the network level any federated system is decentralized. With a centralized network you literally have one server and if it dies all data is lost. With a federated system like the fediverse any server can go down but the data is still there if it has been cached by some other server.

  • I really like droid-ify. Its a nice, good-looking alternative to fdroid. Also I'd advice to use molly foss instead of the original signal app.

  • Yeah I see your point. What I meant is more the idea of different communities having their own wiki which could be hosted on topic or regional specific instances.
