  • Joke answer: It's cute.

Real answer: It's cute and because of that broad appeal it's easy good PR. NASA has to appeal to the populace to hope they demand their Representatives properly fund them.

  • They need to be harnessed into biological CPUs by hyper-advanced dog sized jumping spiders. It's the only use for those murderous six legged maniacs.

  • It isn't.

I can't speak for all PoC but I can speak for me. It's been screamed for the ages. Maybe not all Dragons care about ideology, but it's the goddamn minority.

The rule is you (the straw billionaire in this scenario) or your Robber Baron grandpappy were able to rise that way by seeing some as subhuman, and others as rubes. They still discuss phrenology and blood poisoning for fuck's sake.

Stop assuming the bulk of The Capitalists don't absolutely abhor the concept of other races sharing their resources. They'd happily make an all-white caste system.

They keep screaming that's what they want.

  • I want to commend you for what you're doing. It doesn't feel good, but you must remain effective. You can't re-align schemas through Internet comments however, don't burn yourself out.

  • You are—tragically—100% percent correct in my opinion. That is as I also see, the reality we live in. The shortsighted Neoliberal imbéciles would choke to death on a dollar if they had to eat their way to a penny.

    However.

Even though things will, to heavily understate, suck, I'd urge you to not fully give in to despair. Last time Fascism rose, it bit them in the ass and they backed the other horse eventually.

I am not looking forward to dodging (or liquidating) brown shirts and Nazis, so if we can avoid that and just be poised for when climate catastrophe puts on the knife-edge of "this has never happened before" that would be great.

Those with thoughts like yours will be needed. The Resistance will need leaders and scholars to delineate the purpose.

Reality sucks and we shouldn't have to fight for it because of thousands of greedy piggies, but it's manifesting and we'll have to decide.

We need to vote. We should all vote. Then start working on what we need beyond that in what little steps we all can. The literal morning after the election, preferably.

  • Boo, the audience was enjoying the illusion of intellectual discourse you were laying and how deftly it was peeled back!

Why did you give up so soon and play the hypocrisy of the "Good faith" card? You could have continued helping the cause of leftism by continuing to be the perfect verbal sparring dummy. The think tank needs new material mate.

  • I thought you were gonna make some cool points about world building but then the ending came. To address your DnD example; that's already covered by canon. Adventurers and what they earn (monetarily, influence, and good old finders keeper's wise) is at minimum a whole order of magnitude above what the level 0s that make up the world's backdrop have access to.

A blind adventurer who is destitute could find a scroll of lesser restoration (not arguing it would work here or not, that's DM fiat) or otherwise get access to restoration of some sort if sought.

The blind after mining accident level 0 beggar is screwed, but the blinded by hunting accident noble could see by the end of the day.

The blind from birth halfling who can not miss what they've never had before and who gets around just fine with blind sight, wouldn't necessarily feel that there is anything to be fixed; use that wish people for legendary loot.

That's the bleakest and reality is stranger than fiction angle tho.

They're fictional worlds, it's perfectly okay to make one in which differently abled people can feel represented without reality being a dick to them if you know, not being a dick is something that matters to you.

    Edit: Some typos.

  • As I said, I am happy for your comfortable position (mental or otherwise) to be so noble. I can't help change the world if I'm dead or in work camp, and honestly helping the marginalized in my community already takes all the effective energy I can muster. I guess since I can not hold all of the world's sins at hand, I must defer to you and grab a shovel?

  • The greater of the evils would happily seek to make me go round out my trans friends and kill them, then later seek to get my white friends to round me up and kill me after that's done. I'm really happy you feel you have the luxury of moral superiority, but that doesn't matter here at the endgame.

  • Sword Guy, embrace that. TED Talk away, everytime swords are even slightly relevant.

  • Your deity of choice (It honestly doesn't matter which religion you subscribe to) saw fit to include the ability for walking, built in.

A feral child wouldn't lack for the ability to move, they just need to survive that long.

This C(c)reator(s) must have been too shy/wise/unknowable to also include the knowledge of their magnificence without another person telling you what to believe however.

If this is what you truly believe, fine. But "life happens" with or without belief in a God.

  • Butane doesn't break into the same things, but everything that combusts breaks down into smaller things that all constantly keep coming up as bad for us in excess. The location also matters as far as health goes. Camping stove in open air good, not so much inside a tent.

  • If the founding fathers were for the right to the pursuit of happiness away from the control of the moneyed noble elite, they would have put it in the constitution or at least have a revolution over it!!!1!!.

  • Without a cure for ADHD this is actually free healthcare woo!!!

  • They included that in their reply:

ClearChannel (and therefore iHeart) sells advertising enmasse so that messages and products can be pushed the largest groups. They hype up the music festival like its a great big deal, and then they give away tickets.

Basically, the bands and holding the event are cheap (the bands selected are not in high demand and thus cheap booking) in comparison with the profits of hosting a subliminal ad show with a (happily) captured audience.

Note that this is my interpretation of the other poster's message I thought I'd chime in with, I have no first or even second hand knowledge on this topic.

  • There is no need to be disingenuous to be right. You can dispute any charge for services non-rendered in the US, for anything you pay for.

Provided it is a charge, that is to say, paid with Visa/MC's or your bank's money, and transacted over the CC issuer's payment network.

Quite simple a process and at that point, you have hella bigger guys with interest (not in your money but on the interchange fees riding in that funds transfer. They will get theirs back, and so do you get yours.

There are far more people than you seem to realize that simply do not have access to such credit opportunities.

Even a cash payer for healthcare services would have a headache with our legal system should they need to sue for breach of contract.

That one also sucks, in case it wasn't clear. And again, is the avenue of a privileged subset.

For the majority of Americans, it's insurance paying. So that means an insurance appeal.

And well... that's a system in the sense a shifting labyrinth is a system. But don't take it from me:

  • In my (only partially humorous) opinion: French snobbiness is displayed the most strongest upon the French language.

It is the least mutually intelligible of the mainstream Romance languages with any of the others. By design.

The notions of purity and ripping off Latin- words, expressions, and structures in the 17th century that lead to the Académie Française formalized things. But France's geography and history also pushed the language into it's own harder than the others.

  • Disregarding the irony of your authoritative stance, as it is your opinion...It's not only possible but better to do both?

I'm with you on the TL;DR that equals mindfulness is more work than virtue signaling, but did you consider that internet arguments,(communication) are as intrinsic to the human experience as porn and memeing?

You can work a job that helps others, volunteer in your local community, and practice mindfulness while attempting to elevate and spread good vibes to others.

I don't recommend anyone try to do all of them at the same time, and in the case of jobs that's not even a healthy consideration in the face of modern life pragmatics. Which we should change yes, but that's another discussion.

Your observations are valid, and correct. For everyone. But it's a "some of the time" thing; It takes practice and support to become the kind of person who can actively choose to put aside those coping mechanisms.

  • Hah. Absurdist on the surface, and yet if you were to imagine yourself forced to be a vigilante...

    Good writing prompt 🤔

  • Yes, I wish you the best of luck in finding a GP that will listen finely to your subjective experience.

That is absolutely key, and often the most difficult part—especially for anyone with any degree of neurodivergence—to the point I almost gave up trying to advocate for myself.

Even with my (reportedly? I don't know how these things are measured to be honest) lesser degree of neurodivergence many meds side effects affect me differently.

If you can find a provider that already has experience diagnosing autism in adults, they might be the kind of provider whose opinion on the specifics of the side effects you might want to seek.

I wish you the best of luck in your journey towards ease of being, fellow person.
