Yeah, you are definitely not wrong. My mom is one of them now and the brain rot is real, but also so much of my childhood makes sense. It was always there in some form.

That’s awful but not surprising. I would wager that the Venn Diagram of people who donated and people who watch Fox News 24/7 is probably pretty close to just 1 circle.

Like the pillow guy and everyone else on there, they’re grifters playing on the fears of the elderly. It’s not unlike the scammer call YT vids where they take control of the computer.

It makes me sad because I do feel like this older demographic is more susceptible to the fear mongering so they are taken advantage of as a result, but while they’re sending money the rest of us have to suffer the consequences of their actions if it ends up tipping an election one way vs another. There is no good answer, sadly. Snake oil salesmen of some sort have probably existed since ear the beginning of modern civilization.

Yes and yes. Oh and it was up for 4 days before they even removed it. It took less than 1 day for him to be reinstated.

While the media posted by the influencer has been removed, numerous text interactions with the deleted posts from his followers are still on the platform. Some of those posts mention a child depicted in the photos as young as one and a half years old.

To make matters worse, the image appears to have been on the platform for several days before being removed. Lucre even described the image in detail in a separate tweet, noting that it had been taken from a video. The video in question involved the abuse of three children, one of whom was reportedly strangled to death after the filming.

The CSAM material was left up for FOUR DAYS (July 22-26) before he was even suspended. Then they let him "delete" it...and reinstated him. People commented during those 4 days DESCRIBING THE IMAGES.

What the FUCK please tell me this is worth a visit from the FBI, getting removed from the App Store, some massive GDPR violation, fucking something. How is this story not bigger news?

Edit: To put this in perspective, 4 graphic CSAM images that an account with 500,000 followers posted were left up on Twitter for 4 days. The person who posted the images was suspended for less than a day.

In recent news, Google has put forth a proposal known as the "Web Environment Integrity Explainer", authored by four of its engineers.

Edit: climate.nasa.gov is fantastic for this kind of stuff, btw. They have tons of data from their satellites you can download, visualizations, videos, charts, graphics, tutorials...just all sorts of things. It's very cool.
