  • Mario Kart, I was a military brat my dad was kind of a jerk he played to beat me one day I got really good and kept beating him. He quit playing after that. Then he quit with everything else I beat him at.

  • Dude it's a fucking email but a phishing scam.

Do people really not have anything better to do then raise awareness about an email.

  • Someone apparently doesn't know how Bill Gates actually got his start or how Apple started. "Money and power."

Bill Gates snuck into a library to learn about computers.

Apple started with a group of people in a damn garage.

"He was an asshole but he had good reason." Apparently not good enough that Linus thought it was good enough to continue being an asshole. Pat on the back to him.

"It's won on Server Arena." Great? Ask enterprise companies and hospitals how secure and reasonable Linux seems for their business models.

"Mobile." Yeah this one is a joke. Linux is far from ready for the mobile world at least for phones.

"Embedded" now this one is actually a fair point.

  • I am just trying to make sure I understand that the average Lemmy user doesn't believe in unsubscribing and blocking an email and instead would rather just bitch about how they are getting emails from a source they could block just so they can talk about privacy and intrusive companies. However those same users who have the privacy experience and "knowledge" have the same issues from the sounds of it.

  • Wasn't Linus an actual asshole back in the day. The same as Steve Jobs and even Bill Gates. Seems to be a running trend with OS makers from the early 90's.

Not that it is relevant. It's cool we have Linux. Glad we can celebrate a system that just isn't quite there yet.

EDIT: Lemmy is a cesspool. You guys need help.

  • I made a comment the other day saying Lemmy users are just as biased as average people.

Someone said, "how is this article biased."

I am convinced half the user base that was here before Reddit doesn't know they are stuck in a loop of reading and posting articles here that justify their mindset the same as anyone else.

  • They are just another Lemmy user that doesn't know what the fuck they are talking about.

  • I am about to go back to reddit because Lemmy users suck as human beings. I can't believe the user base that was here before Reddit users think they are somehow fucking better.

They think they are alternative to an average person somehow. Constant posts about how they are different but after seeing a post of them comparing trans protesting to the extremism of the KKK and seeing the comments be full of people talking about how they are "middle people" they "stay on the fence" and are "different" because they don't believe in being extremist. I think I am done with this fucking place.

  • This is exactly my issue with Lemmy in all honesty.

  • These kinds of comments are why my usage has gone down. There is an inclusive we are different vibe and this mentality that people just shouldn't have an opinion if it doesn't fit the Lemmy opinion. It's just weird.

  • I have an entire conversation on here where the majority of Lemmy users told me democrats should start killing people.

    Also, what fucking moderation?

  • Here is how I read this,

"You don't have to make me feel like I am whining about things."

"So you stop whining about things. Quit talking so I can."

Found yet another Lemmy user to prove my point.

  • Nah, there is a culture here and there was before the reddit move. If there wasn't then I could just say, "there are now more reddit users and you guys are like reddit users."

However, most Lemmy users who were here before are going to say, "this isn't like reddit."

Also, it's not about disagreeing with opinions because as you have said that is the internet. It is about seeing people who think they are techy and and that there is one way and one way only. I will give you some examples: Linux is way better than any other OS, FOSS is the only way because why would you buy something, Ew 3 dollars a month for Google drive the cloud is just too expensive, just pirate everything that will stick it to big corporations.

It's not a disagreement to opinion because these are things I also believe to some extent but on Lemmy they are extreme thoughts to the point of outright ignoring users asking about something and Lemmy downvoting and ignoring their question. So now Lemmy becomes more inclusive. There is also a, "actually," vibe here and a, "Im not like other girls," culture that most Lemmy users think they are so different from Reddit that they are actually just different kind of jerks.

Oh, then there is the, "yeah man, I know everything about privacy and security." And those types of Lemmy users have no idea how much of a nightmare privacy and security is on the Fediverse in general.

So sure I will prop up a punching bag and take a swing but this is the internet if you feel like the punching bag and this felt like a hit then it probably means I'm not too far off.

  • I am glad you are having a positive experience. I have seen 2 comments saying that. I am having a much different experience.

  • Oh, no. I have had a much different experience. I think Lemmy users are just different kinds of assholes and don't realize it.

I am looking at you lemmy user that thinks people should just start killing people to settle the score.

  • My experience has been different. I feel like I see the same, "Linux is better." Shit all the time. All the memes are also, "Windows user realizing this. Linux user not caring."

  • Lemmy users also tend to be stuck in one mind set and that is they know what they are talking about all the time no matter what even if their opinion is actually kind of shit.

  • If you are still on Twitter, wait sorry, X, then you literally have nothing better to do with your life.
