Are you using home assistant? Their website says ikea switches arnt compatible with it.

I recently bought a zigbee dongle to use with a home assistant VM. Do you have any advice on products? There is alot of stuff out there and I am trying to make sure I get good stuff.

My current plan is that id buy assorted types of lights to fill the roles of actual lighting and mood lighting, and I would pair that with a 4 button switch to toggle between some different presets. Been looking at Moes for the scene switch buttons and Sengled bulbs, and still need to find a solution for having home assistant to turn on or off non-smart items by delivering power or withholding, but i feel like i am flying blind.

It is a tough situation, because yes it makes complete sense to say "I cant stop them, but I can ensure their safety" since we know abstinence is a pipe dream, but its also not fair to say your ideas on how to parent supersede another parents. Hell this could even be a teaching moment for your child by explaining this in full candor with them so they understand your concerns with the request and why you made the decision you made, it can be helpful for them to understand that just because other people do things in a way you don't agree with, doesn't give you the right to force your ways on them, a lesson in desperate need across the world lately.

All these takes going against this advice feel like we might be being astroturfed by an army of horny preteens trying to manipulate their millennial parents lolol.

I am all for trust, but in this scenario we are discussing the honesty of a teenage male trying to get laid, and I wasn't born yesterday, and I was him at one point. The downside of "Your son violated my little girl in your house and you knew about it!!!!" is quite high to let trust take the wheel, especially when all you had to do was ask your son to have her parents call you.

This meme format never shows a scenario that isn't made up anymore.

Most every major company isn't entrenched in people's lives as deeply as apple is though. If I want to leave Netflix it's as easy as switching subscriptions. If I want to leave Apple I need months of migration and multiple product replacements.

Or at least that's what it looks like to someone who has avoided Apple their whole life, it was apparent to me as a teen that the walled garden was a trap. The iPhone and iPhone 3g where the only and last peices of apple hardware I've ever owned.

The dems "trying" to do something is fucking meaningless, also the thing they are trying to do, is to generally stop the gov from going more right, never reversing direction. And you can mock the left hoping things change, but unfortunately the left has been effectively removed from politics, so outside of the outrage bubbling over into revolution there is a single thing the left can do. You must live in a different reality from me i guess, enjoy it, sounds nicer than the real world.

I mean I feel like i agree with you on everything, other than you believe political change is possible and I dont. I also do not believe you have argued that the outcome is remotely likely, only that its more possible than revolution.

It would be easier to get a shitload of progressives elected into positions of power in the US via the democratic party than it would be to lead a successful revolution to overthrow the US government

Let me float a third option, which is the current state of the country will remain unchanged. The economy will eventually collapse under the weight of the capitalists, triggering worldwide economic collapse, and then WW3. I'm just praying fascism loses again in the end, and that the systems can survive long enough for me to die naturally first.
