  • Clearly, you didn’t read my post. Hard to spend years in therapy and not know fuck-all about it. I never said don’t go to therapy. I said don’t expect miracles. Therapy is good, but it’s not a solution to structural issues.

  • I’m sure that’s what they taught you in civics class. If you don’t think politicians play political games, I have a lovely bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. Even if every campaign closed due to lack of funds, what exact day they close and who they endorse are up for grabs, and that can make a very big difference.

  • Once, people on the internet thought I was crazy for thinking Roe v. Wade would be overturned. And all the laws ALEC got passed were once just “crazy proposals from a far right think tank.” If we underestimatr the right, they win.

  • I think it’s funny that Musk simps think peoppe are jealous when we criticize him. Honey, I wouldn’t trade places with Musk if you paid me. I already dealt with teenage insecurities, and I’d rather have average amounts of money and people who actually love me than a yawning void in my soul constantly sereking approval from adoring crowds. I want to be decent and useful to the world more than I want to be rich. And I’m not alone. You wanting to be Elon Musk doesn’t mean everyone does.

  • It’s also an older American colloquialism to describe people from the Spanish-speaking world. They’re not wrong, just a little behind on linguistic changes. Just imagine “Hispanophone” when they say “Spanish”; that’s what is meant in most cases.

(To be clear, I’m not telling you not to be offended if you’re from the Spanish-speaking world. I’m simply explaining that it’s a colloquialism, not a mistake or an attempt at offense.)

  • Look, guardrails that can handle being hit hard once can’t be counted on to protect you again. Also, I think what’s meant by “brutal fascism” above is Trump’s end goal, not how he behaved in his first term. I’m only slightly to the right of Gramsci and Bookchin, and even I don’t think his first term achieved full-on fascism. But make no mistake, there’s good reason to believe 2024 will be our last free election (they’re already not fair) for a while.
